Yeah he's pretty good isn't he. The only thing that struck me was how little he actually seems to say. He just 'turns up' does a trick (wearing certain clothes) and that's it.

Personaly not to my taste (i like my magicians to be a bit more traditional  ) but then I guess he is doing very well with his target audience...

Well said Seige (and Happy Toad).

I do feel that we do sometimes rush in to criticise far too often, where we should be showing a lot more respect to our fellow magicians. In fact it is not so much the criticism that I dislike but this lack of resepct.

For Dynamo to have even got where he is now is an amazing feat, and one that couldn't have been done with out a certain amount of skill and personality. I really do wish him all the best and hope he makes it the whole way. If nothing else it will be more publicity for magic, and more bookings all round.

I take a bit of offense if I'm to be included in Seige, Toad, and Fishs' comments. Not once did I attack him, and actually commended him for his ability and willingness/courage to make a career of magic.

I think my points were valid, from a magic standpoint.

You can call it the green eyed monster, but (with respect) I ask you this:

If it was someone on these boards submitting an unsigned card to bottle video (with no inspection of the deck afterwards)- would you be quick to praise his ability at springing the cards onto the floor of a gymnasium, or would you perhaps advise him to work on making it a signed card to bottle?

Just a thought. Again, I wish him luck and I do hope he does well for himself. I just thought I should make a comment on my impression of his performances.

I think you'll find that there was intention to aim anything at you and, in general terms, the posters referred to supported your point of view.

My apologies, then. Just didn't want anyone getting the wrong opinion about my comments.

I second that. I was generally referring to no-one in particular, and more ranting that so many people are quick to slag off new and up and coming stars without really giving them a chance.

From experience, this is usually due to the green eyed monster, as most people's first comment is "I can do that trick too, why aren't I famous?"

Sorry if any offence was taken!

How about 20 years?

Seriously, no doubt this guy's style of magic will annoy the hell out of some whilst he will impress others. It's a personal choice and one that perhaps you can only find out if you've seen a performance.

Sure, he may look geeky to some and stylish to others who like the gangsta image. At the end of the day he's performing magic and if he breaks through, then hopefully it will bring some good exposure to magic in general, and we need as much of that as we can get.

I don't mind this guy. I am not a big fan of Chavs so that looses him marks.

However, on the magic front, Blaine irritates me sometimes because he will do a load of tricks all revoling around the DL. This guy seems to have talent. Also, you need to be a bit arrogant when performing. When i do a trick i have to tell myself that no one else in the world can do this and that it is going to impress the audience. He just seems to be that way all the time.

PS sorry Blaine fans :D

I disagree with this but then I guess that is just preference of performance style. I don't think the audience likes it if you're all "look at me, I can do something you can't!". But I think this does work well for Dynamo. Due to his "hip-hop" style (which is very arrogant judging from music videos), he has managed to earn himself respect amoung the hip-hop crowd.

Mind you I didn't see anything on his web site that made him look arrogant. :?:

Oh, I didn't mean be all oh look at me but for some people arrogance is how the perform. They THINK they are good so they do the trick well. They shouldn't say it thats annoying, they should let the magic do it for them.

I meant the sort of arrogance you can see in people like Greg Wilson and Jay Sankey. Extreme confidense might be a better way to phrase it.

I think I made it very clear whom I was talking about, after all I directly quoted them.

Nice site, and he has got himself some pretty sweet bookings! I understand that his persona, and style might not to be to everyones taste, but it takes all sorts, and a performer of Dynamos style and ability may well inspire other kids to take up magic, which can only be a good thing!

The effects one his site were not jaw dropping for me personally, but they were performed well, and as others have said, he must be doing something right! :D

Yeah well I wouldn't say he was a magicians magician. But then he doesn't make his money from magicians so it's not really a problem.

I really did not need to know that lol.

I admit he's a good magician. His style just isn't what I like though...

The pictures... he should definitely learn some new displays rather than showing the same one over and over again. And also learn to fan a bit better.
