diy skin pockets

Postby magicdiscoman » Jan 24th, '06, 19:40

recently iv'e been reviewing my history magic wise and have been surprised to see how many escapologists practised the art of skin pocketing to keep picks and scelecton keys.

which begs the question in thease days of body modification how many of us wood be willing to suffer for there art.
as an example how many of use would consider a palm pocket for a magnet or coin vanish and wile were on the subject how many of you would consider loosing the top of your pinky for a it pinky tip.

a friend of mine who's into scarification has had some cards scarred into his skin in different places for revelations nd already ahs palm pockets for strong magnets, having said that he practises reki magnotherapy the magics a side line.

I've thought about CREATING pockets and the like for hands, but I really don't think I would have it done surgically.

My grandfather was the real thing!
He was a professional thief back in India (spent a lot of time in jail).
But he had a "pouch" in his mouth, in his cheek, where he could hide small keys.

I've decided NOT to follow in the family tradition... and just stick to card tricks. :?

i shouldn't have read this. I'm actually serisouly considering gettin a card scarred into my arm now! i could do some seriously amazing stuff with that, considering where i usually do stuff (rock clubs)! wow.
anything i could put on my skin to make it heat up a fair bit too?
ooo... the possibilities!

Why limit yourself? You could do an awesome version of Kolossal Killer. :D

Hmmm, I have never been tempted with any body art or piercings etc, but do I sound really odd, if I said that I would think about a card scarring or other sugery for magical purposes? I mean at least it would have a purpose!

Would this stuff do the job? I bought some a few years back for a halloween party - you put a small patch of red make up on your face, then apply a few layers of this liquid skin stuff. Once dried, you can (quite satisfyingly) peel it back to reveal the redness beneath - it looks just like you've got an open sore.

I reckon if you apply enough layers to an area of skin, you could tear the latex and slip something underneath it - maybe a coin or stamp, but probably not an M5!

Isn't this kind of stuff used for string-from stomach type effects?

You can use liquid latex, I've used similar items to make masks in the past. The only x-factor is how good you are with it.

It's all in how talented/dedicated you are to get a high level of detail and realism.

For pointers, I would have to refer you to Tom Lauten. If anyone can give you tips on how to do this kind of work, it's him hands down.
