Famous Quotes

Postby Blade Master » Jan 25th, '06, 00:28

This is a very simple thread. Basically I'm looking for some famous quotes by famous magicians. Talk Magic seems like the best place to go to find some. Right now all I have is...

"Confusion isn't magic" - Dai Vernon

Do you guys have any. 8)

Some of my favourites:

houdini wrote:What the eyes see and the ears hear, the mind believes.

james randi wrote:Everyone who believes in telekinesis, raise my hand.

james randi wrote:Uri Geller may have psychic powers by means of which he can bend a spoon; if so, he appears to be doing it the hard way.

Not a magician, but one of my all-time favorite quotes:

It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt. - Mark Twain

There is already quite a lengthy thread on this. Maybe it would be worth cutting and pasting he quotes here there, and removing this one. It seems silly to have two such threads...

This is ridiculous! There is a thread on everything! Why don't we just stop because evrything has already been done?

Actually, the laws of probability shows that we are only half way through being done.

If we didn't keep historic records, this would be a chatroom. Since we do have historic records, it makes sense to maintain some categorization so that searching on them is easier (the readers benefit) and easier to maintain (admins benefit). I don't think it is too much to ask for the forum participants to do a search on previous thread before creating a new thread. We should also try and keep the thread topic names descriptive and relevant. The great benefit of this is it would greatly reduce the number of Mandrake posts....

You see the ones which don't get submitted  !

This version of TM will be all of three years old in April and there's quite an accumulation still accessible from the Old Forum so it's a fair bet that most topics have been discussed or at least touched on in that time. Use of the Search Function to try and avoid duplication is something the Mods appreciate very much indeed!

Edited later:
Correction, word missing for some reason - that should read:
You should see the ones which don't get submitted!
