Hi Guys,

I was extremely impressed with a street magician in covent graden (whatever you may think of them ) and am trying to find out the name of the trick so i could possibly get it.

This is what he did

He borrowed a note (an irish guy gave him a note)

He asked him to sign his name and something that the magician would not know (such as credit details ) on the note.
He then put it in an envelope - He put 3 envelopes behind his back and shuffled them.
He then got the guy to choose 1 - he covered the other 2 in petrol and burnt them.

The guy then opened the envelope and it was not there.

So the magician apologised and said he would pay him back later.

He then took a cup and got an audience member to check it. He said that he'd answer the question "what came first - the chicken or the egg?"
He did his magic stuff and an egg appeared under the cup. He then put the cup on top of the cup and made a small soft chicken. (childs toy) appear.

Then he said "well, what came before the egg if the egg was first"

He cracked open the egg - the yoke all came out along with a nut.

He then got the guy (who lent him note) to step on the nut. Inside the nut that was inside the egg that was hidden in the cup (sleight of hand...etc) was his note with his signature etc on.

It was quite amazing. I was baffled.

But how the nut got in the egg with note in the nut etc i dont know.

I would love to perform this trick - if anyone has seen it etc and knows the name of the trick or where i could get it from please let me know!

Paul Daniels performs this trick, albeit slightly differently. I think a description lurks on these boards somewhere - I'll have a look, and if it doesn't, I'll post the routine myself!

No idea how it's done though...

There is trick by Tim Ellis and Sue-Anne Webster on their 'Ellis in Wonderland' dvd, where you can make a signed note appear from anywhere - yes, anywhere...
It might be that, (they use a banana) but you have to cut the notes, before you burn them all...(maybe it's a sleight modification.)

It's quite a good dvd, and if you are looking to perform something, like that, then maybe check it out - but i don't know where you can buy it from.
