...go on to say ooh , i knew it all along ( sure you did ). and start getting in a dissapointing mood saying all magic tricks are phonies, fakes ( uumm, OF COURSE ). Its quite annoying lol

yes i do..... but is there a question in that statment because i apear to have missed it.

Yes, it is annoying but if you have precticed enough, then they shouldn't see what you have done.

If someone see's how I have done something, then I just say 'Cool, Thanks. Now I know what to work on'

Then I go home and make sure it doesn't happen again.

if someone figures out one of my tricks, i usually just press my fingers to my lips and go shhhhhhh and they usually don't tell because then they feel they have a secret with the magician, it seems like that to me. After that i go on to really knock their socks off with a fool proof awesome trick.(I really like doing one after that where it looks like you mess up or they think they figure it out but then you surprise them.)

Unfortunately for me, I'm always having to find new sleights to use in my tricks for my friends at work, as they've cottoned on to some of the stuff I did when I was just starting to learn this stuff properly, and eager to start performing it. Especially one of the girls, who everytime I tried a DL she said "how many cards is that then?" - TRICK RUINED

I managed to slip one by her the other day though as I've been practicing a push-off DL (no break needed) and it flew straight past her and she was amazed...if only I could remember what the trick was, might have been my version of "Bodyguards".

I agree with Kev though, when it happens, go home and make sure it doesn't happen again.

Usually the reason why people, particularly friends and family find out how you've performed a trick is due to magicians repeating their performance.

No matter how many times people ask, you should resist the temptation to show again.

If you leave them guessing then job done. If you're spotted on the first run then you're not ready to show it until you've practiced more.

bah, i hate it when they see you do some thing before hand like some prep work and then you do the trick then they bring it up to eveyrobdy else... ruins the trick

i just got a TT, and i accidently flashed it when i was fiddling around with it and my friend saw it. luckly he kept quiet and i finished my bill switch

I just dont like it when I do a trick and people go like: "OMG I CAN DO THAT" or "Thats so easy" even when they have no idea how the trick works. -__-

Sounds like a great opportunity to challenge them to do as you do!

umm, i give into easilly to repeat the trick.

If I'm doing it at school / on bus etc and i get a great response first time i love it and so go for another trick. By the time i've gone throuhg all the tricks in my pocket i have them baffled and then i give in too easilly by repeating a past trick whihc is when they usually find it out.

If a spectator knows what is about to happen, there is a much bigger chance that they will figure out how it happened. "Forewarned is forearmed", as they say. That's why I only repeat a trick if I can get the same effect by using an entirely different method.

You need to be careful when repeating tricks. It's fair enough if you have a trick that's repeatable like Crazy Man's Handcuff's (the whole routine is based on repeating the same thing) but if you do something like this a few times repeating it at your spectators request, they'll get annoyed and suspicious when you do a trick that you can't repeat.
