VARIATION ON FIBRE OPTICS

Postby dat8962 » Feb 2nd, '06, 15:29

At long last I got around to recording a video  I hope that you enjoy and all comments welcome.

Just to note that all ropes are ungimmicked and all cutting is usually done by a member of the audience. When I get to the equal / unequal ropes the rope ends are usually held by members of the audience and I don't usually put them in my mouth  .

Finally, I've recorded this without any patter so that I can fit the footage into a slightly over five minute performance and an 18Mb file, otherwise it would have lasted up to another three minutes and would be too large for Putfile.

Here goes (note the intro was done without a script  ):

Pretty damn slick.

Nicely done. And no sign of any rope-glue at all.

Fab!

Outstanding work, Dat!

The fact that you took the time to talk about your variations and the reasoning behind them made it even better. It's always nice to hear WHY people choose to do things a certain way.

And of course - I HAVE to give a standing "O" for the use of Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing! It made me dig out Flying in a Blue Dream for the first time in a while!

Amazing work!

I like that very much.

Especially the part towards the start with the two "equal" ropes, one long, one small and one long, both equal, one seamless, 2 seperate e.t.c e.t.c

very nice - i like very much

Dave, I'm not a great fan of rope effects but I really enjoyed your performance. What really made the difference for me was the introduction. It put your presentation in context and your thinking on the effect was of great interest.

I'm hoping you'll start a trend.

Thanks to you all for the encouraging posts and I'm very pleased that you all liked the pair of video's.

I've still got one week more off work (yipee) so there'll certainly be another video or two in the pipeline.

Demitri.

I was considering the Bells of Lal (part 2) but MPHGT just pipped it due to the timing being in almost the exact length of the video (about 3 seconds out). I'm a big fan of Satriani and have all of his albums so there may be more if his work featured in my posts.

Yep, I see what you mean.

(I'll blame the concentration)

Glad that you liked the video though and thanks for the feedback.

very nice indeed.

If it's that good silent - then I can only imagine how much better it would be with patter and with an audience...

Jus watched it for the first time all the way through and it's an amazing routine. It's five minutes long, and that's without an audience and any patter. Brilliant, and more imporantly, totally and utterly convincing. I found myself a step behind all the way through - even before you started!
