I hadn't thought about that for a while, it's one of those magic tricks most people learnt as a kind, a bit like the jumping rubber bands. I suspect it is taught in volumes like Mark Wilson's complete course and Nick Einhorns Encyclopedia of Sleight of hand and magic.
The effect is (in case you dont know), Two paper clips and a bill are shown. The bill is bent in thirds and a paper clip is fastened onto each opposite end. Without touching either clip, the Magician snaps open the dollar to show that the paper clips are now magically linked together!
There is of course also that linking rings effect that uses paper clips, I can't remember exactly what it is called - but it is an excellent self contained little effect that is great at tables.
