I saw, like you all did, the demo vid. of "Mindbender". I watch it in school and came upp wih an ide of it and when I came home I downloaded the demo vid. to my computer.
I followed exactly how Anthony did with the card, placing it on the upside of the hand, holding the fingers in right way etc...
It looks so cool but I agree that it takes some time to perform. But as in all tricks it takes a good presentation to make a trick as it should be showed.

ONE more thing:
Ellusionist is best.

Umm.. you may want to edit your above post? And I've decided to not purchase this, as I know how its done. I would bet my M5 on it.

Speaking of which, if I want to post some tips regarding the M5, how do I go about that? Obviously only the people who have it should be able to see it...

As long as your tips don't reveal the secret of the M5 then you can post them in the Support nd Tips Section. I would imagine that it will be difficult to say very much about the M5 without tipping what it is so your tips might be best mentioned as avilable and you'll PM them on to those who PM you. You might want to make sure that enquirers really do know a bit about M5 by asking them to include some brief details which would convince you that they are genuine.

PickAnyCard you may want to change your statement that Ellusionist is the best. I beleive in the past they were good but currently thier censorship is causing them to lose all credibility. I, along with other members of the Ellusionist board, were discussing a review of Mindbender where the reviewer said that it was the greates trick ever. I along with a few others disagreed and voiced similar issues as the ones I have raised previosly in this thread. All those posts, along with any other post that had anything remotely negative has been deleted. The same thing happened with any slightly negative post about Infusion or Mercury. Only allowing positive words and never allowing any critisism, maybe they are trying to hide something? Actually I know they are but thier current practicies of tweaking tricks that are very well known and claiming they are all new is another discussion.

As a point of policy, negative reviews are not only allowed but welcomed here if it means that others can avoid buying something which isn’t ‘as described on the tin’. It goes without saying (so I’ll say it!) that all such comments need to be fair, honest and courteous otherwise we would have to edit or delete some or all of them. So far we've only had to do this in very few cases which I reckon says a lot for the integrity and calibre of TM members.

Mindbender reminds me somehow of that paperclip trick 'the opener' that penguinmagic sells for the ridiculous price of $10. The underlying 'method' of that particular trick is as commonly known as using a paperclip in a normal way.

I feel confident to say that Mindbender is about a similar technique. However, this time my mind just refuses to provide me what exactly it is.

Btw, there a quite some tricks that are easily figured out by solely watching the demo. I don't think it is fair to judge a trick on that. You either see it, or you don't, and when the effect appeals to your style of performing, you are happy to pay for it.

Weaver it is important to judge a trick based on the demo as the demo usually shows a person quite skilled at the effect, or at least more skilled then you as you have yet to buy the effect. Now if it can be figured out by watching that person do it, imagine how much easier it will be for a person to figure it out watching you do it.

It's interesting as I've used this effect a couple of times now and it is a winner (so far).

But I wonder if it's more of a curiosity ...

I am not sure if I agree - I find it VERY slow.... of course you can add alot of misdirection and patter to get around this, but anyway.....

I figured out the trick for myself and I think it should be cheaper.

Yet another one-trick pony effort from Ellusionist - overpriced, overrated and over marketed.

They have a long illustrious history of releasing ONE effect on one DVD - thereby making US (the paying punters) pay over the odds.

I know how this is done - a newbie magic friend was foolish enough to buy the download.

The time it takes is the killer for me - doesn't fit my performing style at all. Your mileage of course, may vary.

And without giving anything away - I can see why this effect works so well IN the Phillipines...

There are certain things you can do to speed things up if you need to.

I used it again yesterday to great effect.

Well I think, I'm too thumb to figure the trick out... I read all reviews.. all posts in this forum and I know some sleights... but I think, this is a new one :S


Can the sleight be used with other items like bills or papers or just with cards ?

Just cards as far as I could see - certain types of paper might work, money I don't think would work at all. Difficult to go into anymore detail without tipping it to be honest.
