pressure fan and holding the cards

Postby tiggy49 » Feb 8th, '06, 19:25

hey first fo all i am right handed but the thing is i hold the cards in ym right hand i know its meant to be in your left but its really funny because eventhough im right handed i can spring the cards pretty far from my left hand to my right and so on so most of my tricks are backwards any way it feels unusual to hold them in my left hand and this is where i have the problem with the pressure i cant pressure fan with my left handnut can slightly with my right which is a good thing because you can see the numbers but the fan always messes up and my finger end up clumping together and trying to creep under each other naturally any one got any tips and oh yea i can thumb fan with my left hand perfectly but thats no good to me

you could always try some punctuation to see if that helps?

Try full stops. They're the easy ones.

I've checked your posts. You use exclamation marks and ellipsis correctly, though a single exclamation mark is often as good as three.

Well ive had a lot of replies about my puntuation *thinks* (i think its a full stop here!) . anyone want to help me with my actual query *thinks* (fullstop) .

can i just say something here, this is what i hate about the ellusionist forums, they want you to post as if your handing in an essay. I mean forums are meant to be like communities of freinds and new people you meet and when you meet someone you dont talk all proper and correct you speak as you because thats what you are! sorry for the rant.

i know what your saying BUT trying to read through a paragraph and a half with no punctuation is a pain. Also when things like "wot" "em(meaning me)" are thrown into the mix it makes it VERY hard. now i for one am not perfect..far from it but at least i try!

tiggy, one way to remove a lot of these problems is to run your message through a spellchecker - I use the one in my email programme and that spots most of the lower case 'i's and other basic errors. After that a quick preview before posting often shows up daft mistakes where the spelling is right but the word is wrong. My most common one is 'form' instead of 'from' Just fumble fingers stuff really. Believe me, all attempts at posting a clear and easily readable message are appreciated and will go a long was to getting some useful answers.

I concur.

It doesn't take a lot more effort to break a post into 'breaths' as you would with speech.

One horrible long sentence or paragraph is particularly offensive to the eye, and makes reading it a wholly gruelling task.

It's not a dig at anyone's grammar (or grandpa) but it's more a matter of communication. If your communication isn't clear, responses may not be forthcoming.

Don't take offense (or a gate).

To answer your question
A pressure fan takes a lot of practice to achieve.

The only tip I can offer is to use nice clean cards—the clumping you describe sounds like you're using old cards which aren't gliding or you're not springing the cards enough.

The 'pressure' in the title literally describes the squeezing. The movement and release should be consistent, allowing the cards to uniformly distribute.

You have hit an important point about card indecies, which is that the pressure fan only works when done clockwise.

Don't use new cards....When I was practising the pressure fan I used my old decks....Oh and be prepared for a lot of hand pain until you get use to it....

Indeed: when I said 'clean' I didn't mean 'brand spanking new'.

To prepare a new deck, you need to supple them up a little. New cards are pretty stiff...

(thanks for 'point'ing that out ;))
