Teacher for 10 year old boy

Postby Finella Orr » Feb 10th, '06, 13:15

My son is severely dyslexic and struggles hard and school to keep his self esteem as he is no good at sport. However he loves magic and it is something he is good at, he has taught himself from DVD and books. Does anyone know a teacher in the Harrogate / York area to help him?

There are several Magic Societies in the Yorkshire area, I suggest you contact one of them. The most local to you is the "Harrogate Society of Magicians"

The contact used to be Dave Bulmer.

See

or

http://www.magicians.harrogate.net/

for contact details.

One problem is sociotys generally cant be much help unless you are 18 (a problem i found in Manchester) but, they may well know where tuition is available.

Edit:You can join the young magicians club attached to the magic circle when you're 10. A bit of info from there site:

"How old do I have to be to join The Young Magicians Club?
You have to be ten to eighteen years old. At eighteen you can apply for membership of The Magic Circle at a reduced rate depending on how long you've been a YMC member.

How much does it cost?£25 per year of membership

What do I get for my Membership fee?
See the 'About Us' pages

What skill level do I need to join?
We accept members of all skill levels - from beginners to seasoned performers. We try to tailor all our work to suit your particular needs.

Will I have access to The Magic Circle?
The Magic Circle has superb headquarters in London, housing an extensive library and museum as well as sophisticated performing facilities. Most of our workshops take place in these headquarters, and YMC members can take advantage of the facilities on offer. Also Young Magicians Club members are invited to selected The Magic Circle events, and are offered a reduced entrance fee when they reach the age of 18."
