Nah, maths is just a tool for doing physics!

Not so fast there remember this one:

"If it moves its biology, if it changes colour its chemistry, if it doesn't work its physics"

Surely all the interesting parts of biology (ie what isn't animal psychology) is just applied Chemistry and Chemistry is just an interesting, but ultimately quite small, part of Physics; the interactions of outer shell electrons?

But you are quite right, physics experiments rarely work unless you get a real physicist to run them. When I was doing my A levels we had regular lab sessions on a rotation basis. One of the experiments had never given any results (not even wrong ones) in the five years the school had had the kit. My lab partner and I took it all apart, cleaned it and added a homemade modification (a piece of white paper cunningly positioned) and got a perfect set of results from it all in the same time normally allowed to just perform the experiment. No-one else in the class got it to work.

On the other hand, I performed countless colour change experiments in A-level Chemistry and yet never really had any proof that what I was witessing was what I had been taught would happen. So it changed colour? Surely there are loads of things that are purple out there so how do I know that this is the right one? At least if you are making drops of oil move at different rates with an electric field or measuring the temperature curve for ice melting you can see that what is happening is what you know should happen.

We haven't done any others other than Alkanes and Alkenes

Our teacher is afraid to let us make ethyne because it's so dangerous.

Today we had a Credit test

I had my chemistry mocks today, went fairly well, except the question on organic chemistry. There's so many families and functional groups to remember, alkenes, alkynes, ketones, esters, alcohols......

I never liked organic chemistry, give me inorganic or physical any day!

I'm only in 3rd year which is the 1st year of my Standard Grades, so I haven't done any of that yet, excpet -anes and -enes

And -ynes, don't forget the -ynes!

Ulp, I'm doing that too this year and I will NEVER remember anything from organic chemistry. Actually yes, I will, I know that ethyne is acetyline (sp?).

I haven't done them yet The only thing I know about them are that they are a Homologous Series

I know that physicists earn a hell of a lot more if they completely quit science once they have got their degree.

It's a good job I enjoy my work really!

We did them a few days ago - triple bonds !

I am struggling to make my mind up with what I want to do when I am older - something to do with architecture/graphic communication, computers/programming, magic or chemistry!

(Well I'll definately do magic at the side, along with programming and teaching piano (Hopefully ))

I do both physics and maths at university! I can hear what you're all saying - 'Wow i bet you must be really smart!'. The answer is - 'No, im not. Because if i was smart i wouldnt be doing maths AND physics!'.

Actually, I do Business as well. My course title is Mechanical Engineering with Business Managment. At least i think it is, i havent been in so long that it might have changed by now! Although i normally i just shorten it to Mech Eng if anybody asks me, because most people ask me when im either drunk, hungover and performing, and i either cant be bothered or cant actually say the full title in any of those situations!
