learning card showoff techniques?

Postby GQ » Feb 19th, '06, 19:50

What's a good DVD for learning how to do card flourishes and good sleights of hand like the asher twist?

I've been looking on the ellusionist website...I think the stuff is good, but really expensive, what do you all think?

wherever you look it will be expensive
although..... (I'm going to get a lynching for this...)... you could buy "ShowOff with cards" from magicmakers for less that fifteen quid.

Don't buy Show off with cards - it's cheap for a reason.

Do buy Xtreme Beginners from De'vo - it's great, you'll learn lots, the teaching is first class and everything is taught CORRECTLY, unlike Show Off with Cards.

I can't think of one single reason to recommend Show Off with Cards - yet I can think of several NOT to recommend it. The only thing is it cheaper - but that logic is flawed becuase the teaching is wrong in several places - you get what you pay for.

XB is a VASTLY superior product - in every single department. But don't take my word for it, go and read the reviews for yourself.

As to XB being expensive - it's £30 for two DVD's - its almost 4 hours of content - do people complain about the cost of Card College? No, it's great VALUE for the money - as is XB. See it £15 per dvd the same cost of show off with cards (2 x DVD's) - but infinitely better.

Check out www.handlordz.de they ship from Germany instead of US. You'll start to see XB popping up in loads of different magic shops all over now - they've sorted distribution other than just Ellusionist.

xtreme beginerz is a good dvd. i know this from reading reviews and general assumptions as i know that de'vo is very impressive when it comes to card manipultion. Others to suggest maybe the buck twins dvd 'the dan and dave system' which i do own. This may not be for everyone as the dvd doesn't go through in depth explanations as the whole dvd is shown without word explanations. However if you put the time and effort into it, you may learn many impressive moves.

i love being able to make people kick off just by saying things like "magicmakers" or "rob stiff"
if you hardly know any flourishes at all then i say buy ShowOff With Cards! i liked it

Please Please not this debate again. Showoff versus XTreme has been debated on numerous occasions - please track using the search function.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
