Hi and welcome, your post has been moved from the Magician Talk area as it's more relevant to Support and Tips. If you use the Search function above you'll find a lot of discussion about Jon Allen's Double Back - there are two ways of doing it and both are described in the instructions which are supplied with the cards. If your friend doesn't have the instructions then don't buy it as you won't find out how to do the effect without them.

It's a simple magical sleight - nobody is going to tell you what it is exactly though.

Try Born to Perform...

If you have some spare money to spend, I would recommend Card College series By Roberto Giobbi. The books are pricy, though, but they are fantastic. The best buy for a beginner. The Royal Road to Card Magic is probably the best among the cheapest.

Double turnover is one of the many sleights you'll find there.

Have fun

The dbl turnover is the simplest and the most difficult to do unobservbly. Do not overlook it's simplicity of description because it is the most difficult to do.

I want to emphasize that what I mean is the turnover and display, not the dbl lift. This to me is the most useful tool available and the most over used tool in the cardicians chest.

IMHO.

Hi,
I am also quite new to card magic and as we speak practicing that very same move.

I have spent alot of time reading many many threads on this forum and others regarding help for begineers.
Take all the advice availible from these guys they know there apples.

On the recomendation of many I bought The royal Road to Card Magic Book & born to perform on DVD.
I have to say that both are very very good in there own right.
RRTCM covers most of the information you are ever going to need , but at times it can be a little hard work(bear with it)
Born To Perform by Oz Pearlman is similar to RRTCM in the way each piece of information builds upon the last , but in this case you get to see the moves etc done in the flesh. Oz's teaching methods are very good, clear and very very well explianed.

Personally I have come to realise over the last few weeks of the importance to perform the trick rather than just show it.
This for a begineer is a very difficult skill to aquire, OZ helps with this by offering good patter and advice on the prensentaion of the tricks taught on the his DVD.

Anyway thats enought from me

Hope this helps.

PS regarding the DL, The RRTCM and Born To Perform perform a completely different style , any help regarding the best method of the two would be greatly received.
