The Effect
The spectator freely (no forces etc.) selects a card from a regular deck. They sign the card and it is placed on the table. Then, they remove a banknote, open it flat, and sign that too.

The deck is cut, the signed selection is placed on top and the cut is closed - the selection is lost in the centre of the deck.

The magician then picks up the signed note - and folds it into quarters in full view of the spectator. Almost instantly, the note VISUALLY changes into a folded card!!!

The card is unfolded - it's the selection! Signed! This is tabled...

The spectator cuts the deck - there's a folded banknote in the deck! The magician picks up the card beneath the note, at fingertips, and tips the note out in front of the spectator - without touching it...

Guess what? It's the signed note. The two literally transposed right before the speccys eyes.

Difficulty - 3/5
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review
Many of you here know that I'm a 'dabbler' when it comes to card magic - and I like to create my own stuff and share it here in this forum. I'm always scouring the boards and magic sites to see what's new - more as an inspiration to my own magic.

But something caught my eye a while back - a little effect called 'Transferred' - billed as an impossible signed card/signed bill transposition. I was intrigued. I have, as I'm sure many of you have too, seen countless 'transpositions' and 'bill changes' etc. and being honest, I've always been disappointed.

Anyway, back to the trick! I read the description, and decided to have a squint at the demo video...

Two minutes later, after I'd picked my jaw up off the floor and managed to deep-breathe the palpitations away, I watched the demo again...

Now, I know that this may sound a bit pompous, but I normally suss out an effect after just watching it - it's usually a combo of sleights/gaffs/gimmicks or clever misdirection.

But, on this rare occasion, I could not fathom that anything short of camera trickery was involved here. The effect was so clean, so smooth - with no noticeable gimmicks or gaffs in play.

So I ordered it. And it arrived. And I was mightily impressed.

There's no 'gaff' or 'gimmick' involved as such, just the employ of a simple attachment. As such, there's nothing except for instructions supplied with this one (except for a gaff which allows a more intricate handling, but more of that in a bit...)

So - the routine, is it easy? Oh, yes. The effect arrived at 9am on a Saturday, and I was performing the routine to a bunch of buddies in the beer garden down the local watering hole by 1pm. The trick went down so well, I was badgered to perform it again on the night - to the same bunch of mates - and they STILL didn't suss it out. It's that clean.

In fact, you'll be doing this fluently about 1/2 hour after reading the booklet.

There's just one sleight that may cause problems for some of you, as it's not a conventional one, but aside from that, as long as you get the order of moves and timings right, this goes like a dream.

As mentioned earlier - there's some variations of the routine which, whilst making it just a tad more complex, are something to work up to once you've got the main bit down to a tee.

Overall
Angleproof? 'Fraid not, although I performed this sat on a wall-bench type seat in the local rub-a-dub, with mates 'sardined' either side, and they saw nothing.

Failsafe? Nope. If you get this wrong at ANY point, you're ruined. There's no escaping, and it simply won't work. There's a lot of moves to get right, and timing is imperative. It's not the sort of trick which you can just breeze through, you need to be working the whole time.

Impromptu? Verily. In fact, with about 30 seconds setup, this can be done anywhere, anytime - with a regular deck. And, what's even better, it resets VERY easily once performed - so it's perfect for table hopping.

Self-working for begiccians? Nope. Sorry guys, but this effect takes a bit of experience to pull off successfully, I think. Although, a beginner would quite easily get to grips with it - but I'd advise that you're quite confident with your sleights/card handling and also reasonable fluent with your patter/timing. The whole thing might frighten a begiccian off, I think. This isn't self-working at all.

The bottom line...
Quality: 10/10 - sheer class!
Value: 10/10 - at just £10, this is possibly one of the best value effects I've seen for a while.
Effect: 10/10 - sheer amazement from the spectators every time, even second time around. 'Nuff Said.

quality review, thank you..... I'll definitely put this one down on my 'list to get when I'm a little bit more experienced'
just one question, does this come with a full description of the seights needed to work the magic or does it just refer to them by name?
cheers

Unfortunately, as with many of the high-end effects, this one assumes you know what you're doing to some extent. The main move is outlined in some detail (a whole page + photos).

Saying that, I'm sure you'd work it out!!!

Anyway, if you get stuck - just ask - that's what this forum's for!
