The Reparation

Postby -The Scot- » May 4th, '03, 16:52

Name: Reparation by John Lovick.

Price: £15.

Difficulty: 4 out of 5.

Out of 10: 9.5 out of 10.

Description: In 1998 the Reparation was Magic’s best selling manuscript. The effect is stunning: A spectator signs a card, you tear it into fourths, and then restore it piece by piece Magic doesn’t get any more visual. People gasp as each piece is fused together. In this video, John covers every detail- Slights, Subtleties, Psychology, Motivations, & Timing. Nothing is left out. As a special bonus, you’ll see John performing The Reparation at The Magic Castle in front of a live audience and discover why this captivating creation has become the highlight of his act.

Points to note:
Easiest handling of a piece by piece restoration available.

Ideal for close-up or cabaret.

Studio quality video with over the shoulder explanations.

Comments: I love this effect. I love it, I love it, I love it. It took me a couple of decks to get comfortable performing it to an audience, but now it is great. It looks impossible but is relatively easy. I highly recommend this, buy it!. I gave it 4out of 5 in difficulty, this is because it requires quite a lot of mirror work and time making these moves look natural without fiddling around when massaging the card. I have both manuscript, video and if it came out on dvd, I wouldn’t hesitate buying it in DVD Format.

I hope you like this as much as I do!

Thanks,
Kevin

This is another on my list of items to get... 4/5 sounds damn hard, do any other members have any views on this?

Forget it - go for Ripped and Restored (DVD) by Yves Doumergue. There's a video demo at Penguinmagic.com, and full details at

Best of it's class, in my opinion.
