Thank you all very much. It was not my intention to rock the boat but only to point out that I could not see the purpose or the foundation for this kind of ban.

To add, I have bought most of my magic from two places through the internet - Alakazam and Magic Tricks.co.uk. I have never bought any pirated material, have not pirated any material myself and would not do so in the future.

To further add, I have the highest degree of respect for Peter Nardi at Alakazam, who I think is one of the nicest guys I’ve ever bought anything from - period. Just last week I placed a £500 order after chatting with Peter and once again taking his recommendation on two items sight unseen. I have not been disappointed and I would certainly not consequently set out to defraud him, or anyone else, so I hope that will be taken as a given. I’m sure other people have the same attitude here after spending time reading through the various threads across the boards.

Best Wishes,

Nathan

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

A "transplant" implies that there's already a brain there to replace. Are you sure you don't mean "implant" ??

Soz I just couldn't resist that 1

interesting related point, moonbeam. dan dennett once remarked that a brain transplant would be the only operation of that kind where it would completely benefit you to be the donor. someone else's heart becomes your heart but someone else's brain means that they move in and take over the whole show while you leave. hmmm...i wonder if that's really the case? i can now feel hours of pointless research coming on as i try to work out if the host genes could cause any changes to the underpinning chemistry and personality in the donated brain…or alternatively i could just go and have a really big jamesons with canada dry and watch 'the hand' on DVD. it's a tough choice but I’ve already got the bottle halfway open

Now that's an interesting concept! I've never thought of it that way around.

hiya dat8962,

Have you ever read dennett’s ‘consciousness explained’? some reviewers dismissed it as ‘consciousness explained away’ but it has posed the single greatest challenge to the various cartesian theatre models of consciousness. it’s also a damn entertaining read btw imo.

if you haven’t then pm me with your details and i’ll send a post a copy out to you as i have a spare. it’s a really great book and I must have read it about 20 times or so.
