Talking easy and powerful misdirection?

Postby tiggy49 » Feb 26th, '06, 20:19

well today i was trying card tricks on a cousin of mine and he was a tough customer watching my every move!

when i perform for mates i usually dont like to talk and i look people strieght in the eyes but my cousin watched my hands very carefuly so i decided to try talking and reasons for why i was doing things and im telling you! worked like a charm.

why?

well i think its because he started paying attention to what i was saying and looking at my face instead of the cards.

anyone agree?

Definately agree.

Very often the patter that accompanies a trick is part of, and sometimes a very significant part of the misdirection that's needed for a trick to work effectively, as you seem to have found.

I would always recommend using patter for this reason.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
