hi
i've been asked to post an introduction. so here it is:
I'm a 23 year old guy from bangladesh. for those who don't know where it is, it is situated to the east of india. but we're not a part of india.
i learnt my first magic trick when i was 7 from a cousin of mine who was 8. it was a simple card trick to lacate the spectators card with the card just above it. it was really stupid. but that's when i came to know that magic is not only for the proffesionals you see on tv. from that moment on, magic has been a passion of mine.
i never wanted to be a proffesional magician. an amateur hobbyist is what i am. i have always enjoyed performing magic in family gatherings. as a kid, it gave me a sense of power that i could do something to amaze even the adults. and that felt really good.
by the way, i forgot to mention that although i am interested in any kind of magic or like to watch any kind of magic, the only kind of tricks i like to perform are card tricks. but i don't know why. may be because the first trick i learnt was a card trick. or may be because i perform card tricks better than other tricks.
that's all for now. if i remember anything later that i should include here, i'll do it later. or else, if you want to know anything more, let me know.
i just remembered one more thing. that is, bangladesh is a really bad place for learning magic. there are no magic shops here. so you can probably imagine the difficulties i've gone through. we can't even find a decent book on magic here. i have to depend mostly on websites where there are free stuffs to learn. these sites have been the only help i could get. the only good books i have on magic are:
encyclopedia of card tricks - jean hugard
card manipulations - jean hugard (got it for free in learnedpig)
a few of prof. hoffman's books (also from learnedpig)
the learned pig site has been a real blessing to me. so i would suggest that site to anyone in my position.
