Ambitous Card Routine

Postby M4G1C14N » Mar 1st, '06, 16:44

For the ambitous card routine, you ask a spectator to pick a card, take half the deck and tell then to put their card in the middle, put the other top of the deck on top of their card, now they think that their card is in the middle of the deck, it takes me forever to do the switch, and sometimes i screw up and they know wat i am doing. Can anyone tell me how to do the switch faster and not get noticed. Ty

uh ? i know many passages in ACR, but this one is not clear....
generally in ACR you have to switch the card ( there are many tecniques) and to put the changed card in middle, leavin the good one on top....

I think he means cutting the spectator's card between 2 halfs.
Could be the Jerry Sadowitz Side Jog Control?

But when I read your description again I think you mean this:
You riffle through the cards with you thumb and when the spectator says stop you lift up the half above the thumb break and than place the card on the bottom half. Top half goes back on the card.

I don't know what the name of this sleight is but you I learned it from Ellusionists Crash Course 2 I believe, the DVD which covers ACR. That will give you some hints and tips on how to do the move.

I think we can't explain it here for you

i think he is explaining the Top Change, which, in my opinion is not the best move to use in an ACR.

I can't help you with this one, as I don't do this change much.

Acr

I am not a well explainer but i will try my best

What i meant was, have a normal deck of cards, no breaks, no nothing, fan out the cards and when you reach the middle, flip over one card
(2 Spades) so that the spectator can see the card, flip the card over and
place the top half on their card, holding a small break, then do a fast switch and bring the card back to the top, so the spectator still knows that their card is still in the middle, while you are riffling the cards, you show them their card, this is wat i meant, hopefully i said it better for you guys to understand.
Its the Hard Spectators looking at my hands that really get on to me, i just want to keep them off track for 1 second, so wat should i say to make them kind of not pay attention, and how to do it faster, as in how to cover up the cards.
Thanks

I'm still not sure, is it a spread cull? Where are you learning it from?

Yes, OK, it's called a pass. You don't need to use it as a top control but if you want to then you really just need to practice practice practice. My pass is awful so I can't really comment, but I know point here has one of the best passes I've seen. If you just keep working on it for a month or so it should get fast enough. Then you need to get a slight bit of misdirection just to make sure...

I like to use (think it's called) the invisible turn over pass, if I'm going to do a pass in AC. I don't have a full ACR but I find it easy to work turning the deck over into your patter, while you secretly execute the move. I'm still working on my classic pass but I find that it's very very hard to get enough misdirection in an ambitous card routine. I find the spectators look at the deck alot seeing as it is the focal point of an ACR. They know what is coming so they want to try and get you. For me anyway a pass is too risky, unless it's the invisible turn over pass.
