tough teen audience?

I do a trick where they take a card, return it, and at that point I do a double undercut to bring it up top.

It works fine mostly, except for a group at school that insists pushing the card way into the deck and squaring it up. Thus I don't get the chance to put a break in, and thus no trick.

I've tried the suggestion of holding the deck tightly so they CANNOT push the card all the way in, but they almost take the deck from my hands to do it :!:

Any ideas? :?:

You can grip the deck from the sides tight, first finger curled under the deck and pushing up - second, third and pinky clamping over the opposite side, and pushing the meat of your thumb against the other side, and just run your thumb down the corner of the deck. This way, there's only a slight opening in the corner of the deck. The pressure from your first finger and the slight curve to the deck would make it harder to push the card all the way in.

You could simply riffle down the edge of the cards and ask them to say stop. When they stop you, simply cut the cards at that point and tell them to replace their card into the deck. Problem solved!

Have them return it to a spread thet can push it in as much as they want and it is still easy ot get a break.

When they have selected a card, dribble down and ask them to say stop. Then ask them to place their card there and get a natural jog. If you don't know what that is then I would buy Daryl's Encyclopedia of Card Sleights (Vol. 2 if I can remember correctly)

:D

This is what you should do, make the spectator select a card, take half the deck and tell them to put their card on top of the bottom half, then just place the other deck on top of their card while your still holding a break, show them the front of the deck and just move you fingers across the front and say, you see know, their is no way that i can find ur card know, then do ur switch or false triple cut, and boom their card is on top then do a false shuffle, just so they know that the cards are shuffled and cut, then preform ur trick :D

Spectator asks "How'd you do that?" what's your answer?
Pause for two seconds..., "Uh...... magic?"
