Whirlygig Cut & Pterodactyl Cut

Postby magic_evmeister » Feb 24th, '06, 14:36

Here's two false cuts with daft names I created the other day that I think look pretty cool. The second one, if you cant tell, is a two-handed version of the first one that is inspired by the Butterfly Cut.

My apologies for them not being particularly smooth in performance but I haven't been practicing it long and just wanted to do a demo for you all.

Hope you enjoy.

It's a good job I could only do them slow at the time because it gave the soundtrack time to get the to cool part of the song.

Nice ideas utilising Revolution II. I think you'll have yourself quite a nice move after you get it going really nice and smooth! Work hard! :D

Thanks guys, it's getting better as I sat in one of my lectures today practicing it. I've still got a long way to go yet though.

If anyone has too much time on their hands and feels like practicing this cut then please post me a video of a smoother performance so I can have something to aspire to.

They both look pretty mint. Make sure you post another video when you have them mastered...or if anyone else does.

Top Bombing!

I can't be sure since I don't have Sankey's 45 DVD, but if it's the one in the trailer on Penguin then it isn't the same cut, mine is actually quite different. Also, from my knowlegde it isn't a cut original with Jay, I can't remember who it was though. He's credited by David Regal on one of his DVD's but I cant be bothered to hunt through the DVDs to find it.

The one on 45 is the butterfly cut it is different and by the looks of this one much easier to do.

And no, it is not original to Sankey.

I figured so. My cut doesn't actually have any interaction between the two packets. The whole deck is cut into two, both hands do a simultaneous whirlygig cut (which is completely false) then the packets are put back together restoring the deck. One of the reasons I like this is because it's (IMHO) just as flashy as the butterfly cut but the deck is EXACTLY as it started.

Done one handed it's pretty easy to tell that the deck wasn't really cut, but two handed people haven't got a clue what just went on and never imagine the deck is still in the same order.

Yeah its good. Also, the butterfly cut only maintains top and bottom stock
