Joe Riding's Roped In

Postby dat8962 » Feb 6th, '06, 03:55

This is my third and last rope routine for a while as I'll be concentrating on a few other things. In particular, I'm working on my Tabary routine and will then be attempting to put together my own routine that will hopefully be something that I can call original although this may take some time  I have a few ideas that I'm playing around with at the moment which I've not seen anywhere before but you'll have to wait - sorry

Anyway, this routine is by the late Joe Riding and is called 'Roped In'. You can find a review here: http://www.talkmagic.co.uk/ftopic8074.php&highlight=roped

I've dedicated this performance to Mike Danata who sold me the manuscript and this was the first ever rope routine that I studied. You could say that Mike got me roped in-to this line of magic (Groan  ).

On reflection the routine doesn't look that special but I've explained in the introduction my own views on why this is a strong routine. The main performance is with rope whilst the variation hopefully demonstrates the versatility of this routine, although it was filmed hastely so there's two glimpses in the variation if you can spot them  .

Enjoy:

Please excuse the dancing thumbs in the intro which are not TT's or hooked up to IT

I am surprised that nobody has posted anything on this!

I found this brilliant Dat, I especially loved the bit at the end with the knots :D

I found that it was hard to see what was going on in the variation sometimes, as the ribbon (or whatever it was) was quite curly and made it difficult to see the magic :D

Except from that, I loved it :D

Thanks Ace of Kev.

I appreciate that the demonstration was difficult to see and it was a paper streamer that was used - they type that comes out of a party popper.

I posted this simply, and only to demonstrate that this particular cut and restored was not limited to only rope. Although rope is visual for a stand up performance to a small (or large) crowd, a torn and resored streamer is just as visual, if not more so when performed at extreme close up and it uses exactly the same routine. Attempting to demonstrate this was the point of the variation.

Many thanks for the kind words.
