The Ghost Deck

Postby arkos » Mar 12th, '06, 12:51

Hey guys im interested in getting the Ghost Deck, but im wondering, how do you learn the tricks thats involved with it? I think Ellusionist might show you how to use them 'for a price' or do instructions come with the actual gaff deck itself? Was just curious on how i would learn or know what sort of sleights are involved with this?

Thanks.

Ghost Deck is a normal deck with special designs. It doesn't have special tricks involved with it.
People say that Gaffed Ghost Deck is the most beautiful gaff deck ever produced. It doesn't come with instructions either, but they are making a dvd for it.

Umm if it doesnt have certain tricks involved with it whats the point of it? Im sure its not just for looks, i saw a short clip with brad from ellusionist doing some tricks with it so there must be somthing, or do you just incorporate other tricks used with a normal deck? And why is it called a gaff deck if the card design is all thats differant?

the gaffed deck is just a deck of gimmicked cards.
the ghost deck is just a fancy looking deck.
although i would say anyone that does magic in clubs where there is a UV cannon should get one! just for the UVreactiveness.

The ghost deck is just for show, same with the Viper deck

You're getting two different decks confused here.

Ghost is just a deck design from ellusionist, same as Viper and Tiger. They sell several packs made in that style. The main one is a standard deck - nothing special about it, just a regular pack of cards that looks nice, but there are also some gimmick decks, including the gaff deck. That one is a deck in the design of the Ghost, but gimmicked.

If you use the wonderful search function above you'll many discussions about the pro's and cons of using "fashion decks" (normal decks that are funny looking, just like "fashionable" people :D ). There are quite a few you can get:

http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/acatalog/Black_Tiger_Backs.html
http://www.cards4magic.co.uk/acatalog/Plain_Bicycle_Cards.html - about half way down.

Some people will argue that spectators think they're gimmicked just 'cause they're different though. At the moment I'm quite partial to the Black backed regular cards. Got 5 decks of them the other day and am using them as my regular carry around deck (I know I'm not the only one here who never goes anywhere without a deck of cards).
