Ultimate Ace Assembly

Postby BeerForDolphins » Aug 19th, '03, 16:28

The Effect

Four piles of cards are displayed each containing an ace, with the pack copntaining the ace of spades placed front and centre. In turn, each ace disappears from each of the packs and reappears with the ace of spades.

Cost

$12.95 (Instant Download)

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

I would say a "3"...but not a difficult three. You could do it without the sleights but it wouldn't look as impressive.

Review

This certainly looks very, very impressive when you watch the demonstration video, which is superbly done by Oz Pearlman.

The secret when it is demonstrated is so simple yet incredibly powerful and one which, as a novice, I had not come across before. To old stagers, like seige , I would imagine that it was fairly obvious.

The trick benefits though from an immaculate presentation by Oz.

Rather than going on about it...watch the video.

Overall

A great trick...and although I haven't bought any...erm....any of the thing that I need to make the trick viable...I can imagine that it will fool every non-magician into believing that the aces have actually disappeared.

Bugnote:

Yep - performed this a lot - although I was doing it before this video was released, and by watching Oz perform it, I've brushed up my routine. I've not actually bought it - but the method (as said above!) was pretty obvious to me.

The 'gimmick' as such can be quite easily concealed, and a re-set's viability depends on how you can handle the cards.

Personally, I think it's easy - but I've been criticised for my assumptions before...

Just bear in mind that you'll need to spend about a £5'er extra after purchasing this effect... so the 'instant download' does NOT mean instant performance, unless you've got the necessary 'other' quite specialised part - eMagictricks should be able to do a next-day on it though.

i LOVE this!!! this is one of those effects that just looks soooooooo impossible, i LOVE NFW but this makes it look easy! its kinda hard to get the moves down but when you do... even if its only one time in ten, it seriously blows people away!

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

Hmm...I'd say I'm quite advanced when it comes to card technique, but this seemed really 'hands-off' leading to some gimmick....I don't know if I can ask this in this forum- but is this a spin off on McDonald's Aces? (Like same methodology etc...)

Rob, you need to explain yourself a little more.

Basically, what is the meaning of 'I'm quite advanced etc... seemed really 'hands-off' leading to some gimmick...'

If you're familiar with McDonald's Aces, then this should be pretty obvious. That's how I personally worked it out.

And no, we can't talk about technique/tipping the gaff here - you'll need to wait until you get access to the Magicians Only area.

By the way, welcome to the forum :)

Hi, is this s.th. I have to buy from a MagicStore or is it easily accessible anywhere in a "normal" store? I suppose the download will tell me exactly what I need, right?

So, if I do it right I only have to buy the gimmick once?
Thanks for information.

You'll be able to get the 'stuff' from a decent stationary store but you will need the download to tell you about it and how to use it.

The gimmick will show wear and tear after a while so you will need to make others.

I also have this aces assembly routine and have never used it for an audience as I don't like the method.

I bought this effect a long time ago, practiced it, and promptly forgot about it.

HOWEVER, recently for a Television segment, I went back to this, and was extremely happy with the power of the effect on the spectator. I did change around a few of the finer points of the handling, but this specific ace assembly is growing on me!

Hope this helps,

Evan
