Elmsley Count & BTEC Count

Postby magic_evmeister » Mar 16th, '06, 21:40

http://www.geocities.com/magic_evmeister/videos/btec.htm

This is a quick demo video demonstration the sequence I use quite often of the Elmsley Count and my own creation (I think, I'm researching) for a follow up called the BTEC (Back To Elmsley Count) Count. It does the same job as the Jordan count but I prefer this.

By the way, this me doing the same sequence about 6 times so if you're bored or don't like the music then just turn it off. Nothing new will happen as the video progresses.

Hope you like it.

Hm...the count was well done but I'm not sure that it flows well with the Elmsley count. One of the selling points of the Elmsley+Jordan sequence is that both counts look the same, so it looks like you're just counting and recounting the cards.

I disagree with you on that one, Kati. I think this passes better as a follow on from the Elmsley. As far as the Jordan count goes you are doing what looks like the exact same thing twice when there is no reason to. However, with this method you are counting them one way and then counting them a different way which i a subtle reason to do it again, do it two different ways. I also think it gives the impression that it must be a legitimate count as people might think "if he was doing a dodgy count how could it be done two different ways?"

I find this ALOT easier than the Jordan Count though which is the main reason why i've stuck with it.

Maybe, I'm not sure about that. I think that it's really a matter of personal opinion :).

It is much much easier though, I'll give you that.

I like BTEC to do as an idea while pattering just like you are absent mindedly counting the cards.

I think at the very least evmeister should be congratulated and commended for solving the problem without reference to anyone else.

Personally, I'll stick with the JC but I suspect thats only because I know it already. I will however keep it in mind as the BTEC does give you the opportunity for a number of different steals.
