OK :D

That was nice - it was done smoothly and there were no flashes or anything as far as I could see. The effect itself might need a bit of justification - why are you putting a card face-up into the pack? - but it was good.

Also, I would use a spread instead of a dribble to show that the cards are all face-down as the dribble doesn't look completely fair.

first of all i couldnt hear your voice over the music.. no need for the music so why put it in?

placing half a deck of cards on top of the other is hardly a mess.. its half a deck of cards on top of the other. Why not do a faro shuffle so it actually looks like a mess?

if your going to use the fan to cover the turnover then why not just turn the deck over with your fingers rather than the whole hand? it looks unnatural to hold a deck "upside down"

heres a quick vid i made to show what i mean..my version

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

Faro Shuffle?? Since it is the first trick in the Royal Road to Card Magic, I think it must kept simple. Even a fan isn't that necessary I think.. As people don't know what you'll do, they tend to watch the upper half- your right hand. (Sure, it won't be that good on video)

I think this effect plays a lot better when you downplay your skill with a deck of cards. It looks a bit confusing in the vid - it wasn't really clear what was going on - and believe me, I've read RRTCM a fair few times. Stick with the original handling, take out the fan and flourish, and you'll find all the misdirection you need is right there, built in.

It's a gem.

Really try not to complicate it.

I think Mandrake would say, "K.I.S.S."

I was gonna suggest the Faro too until I saw you'd beat me too it, Mog. It's fair enough to say "Get rid of the flourishes" and whatever but it's down to the performer's choice whether they do this or not. Some people will want it to look like they've done something that the speccie cant suss out through complicted sleight of hand (when really you didn't). However, using a Faro shuffle for this is the ULTIMATE convincer for this. It takes alot of practice to do a Faro shuffle well but not much practice to do it acceptably enough for this effect.
