It's Done With Mirrors

IT'S DONE WITH MIRRORS by MAC Magic
£11.95 from http://www.emagictricks.co.uk
or $10 from http://www.themagicwarehouse.com

What they say
"Magician shows four of a kind all face up. The cards are aligned and when spread out one of the cards is now face down. This is repeated until each of the four cards has reversed itself. The performer then offers to explain how the trick works. "It's done with mirrors" he explains. The pack is turned face down and each card is now shown to have a mirror finish on both the face and the back. Not for beginners."

What I say
Not much to add to the above description really - except to say "until each of the four cards has reversed itself" should have "and turned back over" added. And "not for beginners" shouldn't be as daunting as it sounds. Oh, and yes, when a card is reversed, the back shown is a Bicycle design.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

Review
Don't know how long this has been on the market, I picked it up in New York about this time last year, when I was only just embarking on the Royal Road.
Cardies will obviously know exactly what's going on here - flustration and ascino spread. As the shop description says, maybe it's not for out and out beginners but, for anyone with a tad of card-handling experience, I think this is perfect for learning both sleights involved. They are not too tricky.
And it's worth it - because this effect has a huge impact. The process may not be anything new but specs just don't see the climax coming.
And using the old "done with mirrors" line makes for a great pay-off.

Overall
9/10 I love it - at an early stage it fired up my enthusiam for magic even more.

Done with mirrors

Nice review....I wouldn't let the 'not for beginners' put off any newbies out there...

...flustration is definitely easier than ascanio for beginners, but the whole effect is good. If you like this, NFW is equally as powerful and slightly easier to do!
