I would recommend you look up Ellusionist's Ninja 2. Brad teaches a switch on there called the "visual retention change" which I really like. It takes a bit of practice but once you get it down it's great.

You want to look at the Curry Turnover Change. It is described in More Card Manipulations by Jean Hugard, and Card College volume 4.

EDIT: For some reason Dover have changed the title of More Card Manipulations to Card Tricks and Stunts. Not sure why, but the text is the same as the original.

well it really depends on wether the card is on the table and needs to remain on the table or can the card be lifted off the table (for whatever reason) then switched and returned?

if the card is to be switched before its placed down just show a double then put the top card on the deck

it it needs to be lifted to be changed then use a top change

if the card has to remain on the table at all times then check out some of Fernando Keops dvds for "shade" type switches

The good old Mexican Turnover is a good resort if you can justify using an extra card...

If you want a great change for a card on a table then I suggest you buy Ed Marlo's book, Revolutionary Card Technique. There's a great switch in there called the Miracle Card Switch. Or, if you can you could do a McMillan switch.
