UFO or Helicopter card spin

Postby jagsmagic » Mar 30th, '06, 10:08

Does anybody use this?

It has many names i believe, some call it UFO card spin some helicopter spin or something like that

Its where a card is seen to spin around your body, from one hand to the other etc. I've never seen it here i've only seen it in Vegas....

Has any one seen it here or even use it?

I have the version called UFO. I think it uses the same method as the humming bird card and the hummer card ( http://www.magictricks.co.uk/prodshow.asp?code=403 ).

It's fun to do after another card trick. Just hand out their card to look at it saying something like, "is this your card?" (don't know why magicians always ask, is this your card, like we don't know it is  ). While they look at the card, get ready for the UFO (or helicopter or humming bird or whatever your version is named). Take back the card and give it a few spins, then hand it back again. Sometimes people even try to spin the card, thinking it must be a special card.

If you’re not experienced with IT then give it a wide berth.

I did used to perform a lot of these effects about 10 years back. And they always left me stone cold. Mainly because they can be very hit and miss, and being honest with you—unless I am totally stupid and the only one out there to have this happen to—the effects aren't the most surefire for a professional repertoire.

In fact, avoid yourself trouble and steer clear totally.

My dad bought me mine from Vegas. I imagine it can get good reactions but like Seige said it's pretty hit and miss.

I don't like practicing it beacause when i was learning it the you know what kept snapping and it takes forever to get a new piece.

Cheers,
