double card fan?

Postby lozey » Apr 1st, '06, 21:30

Im working on some card manipulations. I weave shuffle two halve of the deck then do a two handed fan, so that there are two rows of cards in a really big fan (held in the left hand). I don't know what the move is called, sorry :). Problem is when i gather the top layer of cards up in my right hand (while sustaining the fan) , the top row are sometimes jammed in so tight that i cant get them out at the far left edge! (from my view). Iv played it for the comedy occassionally with friends coz its looks like iv maybe glued them or something as im struggling lol:) but id like to be able to do the flourish properly. Has anyone got any tips?

Yes, when you faro them together dont push them together as much. :)

I'll be honest...some of what you said went *woosh* straight over my head. But i have played with the Layered Card Fan (dont know the official name, but I made this up just and think it sounds good  ) and have found the the best way to do it is to do a faro shuffle. This way you can faro them together, do the big-ass fan, close it up and finish by riffling the cards back together. Either way, it looks cool ut serves no practical purpose.

In fact...heres a very drunken/tired example of what I mean.

Big-Ass Fan

I'm not practiced card manipulator so don't bother to "constructively criticize" this video. It's just a drunken example of how I start and finish my "Layered Card Fan".

By the way. This is the first time my face has been seen in a video on TalkMagic so I'm sorry if anyone is disappointed - I'm not as sexy as i sound  . (I was quite drunk in the video - Writing this post I'm very drunk).

BY the way, I'm drunk.

magic_evmeister supports responsible drinking...kind of.

This is called a Giant Fan. So basically you've weaved the cards together and done the fan. I never do the method you said about sustainging a fan because IMO it doesn't look as pretty. What I do is a one handed close for the fan, so I close the Giant Fan with one hand while using my other hand to make it look as though it's controlling the close. Then I do a one handed waterfall which looks great I think.

thanks for the info. Jeff Sheridan does the version iv been learning and it look so cool! He just swipes off the top row of cards, very smooth and clean. He only teaches the method in his Genius at Work dvd series but doesnt mention 'stuck' cards lol :)
