By adopting a generally 'sloppy' style throughout your shuffling and handling, an injog is far less noticable, because you've conditioned your audience into seeing cards jutting in and out of the deck.

e.g. injog the card you have to then shuffle the next few cards on top of it, slowly moving towards being square with the pack. It doesn't matter how messy your shuffle is above the injog as long as you can feel at the bottom.

It's more difficult to spot the injog if your shuffle is a little sloppy. Also do not look at your hands. Basically your suffle should look very casual, as if it is not really important. Your spectators' focus must be on something else while you shuffle. If it's not the case, then you have to work more on your presentation.

If someone catches you, there's not much you can do. Don't make a big deal out of it, use your humor and try to make him/her not reveal it to everyone else.

As has been said shuffle in an untidy way. I like to slowlly move forward and backward making my shuffle seem completery irregular.

I also find any sort of false overhand shuffle easier to do if the cards are held in your left hand ( If you're right handed) are at aa angle of about 50 degrees.

Usually when I do an injog control I dont just injog one card...I let about 7 to 10 cards fall into the injog position and then proceed to shuffle blocks of cards on top of that

Make sure your little finger is in contact with the face of the injogged card.

That way you won't have to injog very much - less than a centimetre.

That is what I do. Then it really looks like a messy shuffle.

Sometimes I don't use an injog, I just extend my fingers so that it keeps a break at the chosen card or whatever.

You shouldn't really get caught out...
Maybe a bit more practice is needed?

I find that if I talk to the audience whilst shuffling:

a) no one's gonna notice a card sticking slightly out
b) its not really that unusual
and c) as long as you don't look at your hands and just clip your thumb on the injogged card when it comes to the throw it looks perfectly natural anyway

[edit] If you hold your little finger against the injogged card you shouldn't lose it either. Hope that's helpful! [/edit]

Oh, and after getting the injog I tend to make the throw look more like a cut than a shuffle if that's any help.

No ones ever caught me out, and my college mates really burn me

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism
