whoops... how stupid of me...
i can feel the heat coming from all the flames....
The thing is i was looking around all week for a decent site...
but the co.uk part threw me off... never really browse uk sites....
now im just so eager to start learning tricks~~
all i know is a couple simple counting card tricks.... which isnt really impressive.....

Oh... on a completely different note.. what book should i get to learn
coin in a can...
coin through glass..
or other tricks i can do spontaneously....
just a hobbie to impress friends :D

It all depends on what lights your candle. There's an extensive archive of rated reviews here to get you thinking about possible directions. Some of the books and DVDs are really cheap for what you can learn from them.

start up

Postby DrTodd » Apr 5th, '06, 08:15

Welcome to TM....it is really hard to answer such a general question. As you will see from the various threads, the users on this forum have a variety of suggestions for starting up magic with coins, cards, and other objects...The Mark Wilson suggestion is good for an all rounder as it has stuff for all kinds of magic and will introduce you to the basic principles.

I always recommend Bobo's Modern Coin Magic and Expert at the Card Table, as well as the Royal Road to Card Magic. Getting the coin in the can is a one-off relatively large payment for one effect. It is your choice. My recommendation would be to start out with learning the basic principles and then moving up, even if your motivation is to have a small hobby to impress a few friends.

From what i understand you seem to be more interested in coin rather then card magic. if this is the case get Bobo's book of modern coin magic and start learning sleights.

If its cards your after, the Royal Road to Card Magic is a definate buy.

Regards,

Alex

I guess I'll be the first to recommend Born to Perform then :). It's a beginner's card magic DVD that promises to take you from "beginner to pro", which is a big claim but it's a great DVD!

See the link in my signature, and have a search for some other threads on it.
