Selling Magic

Postby ace of kev » Apr 4th, '06, 16:59

I have created a card effect which I think is absolutely mind-blowing. Now, I want to sell it, but would I be able to at my age or would I have to wait until I was older?

Thanks

An actual magic website. I'll make a video of it after I film my competiton entry.

Why not talk to seige? He'd probably be interested in helping you market it on NUMS.

you could try contacting magicseen or someone and see if they'd publish your trick for you. no money involved. but it's nice to be published I'm sure

If your going to market a trick on ebay or put it forward for publishing, how do you copyright it first? I'v come up with some interesting stuff

I had the same problem with some songs my band wrote...

What you need to do is write down a transcript of the trick.
This alone copyrights it.
However, in order to prove that, if at a later date someone steals your idea that it was your idea first, you need it to be signed and dated by someone respected. Vicar, schoolteacher, lawyer etc.

It then needs to go in a sealed envelope which is also to be signed and dated by said respected person and then kept safe.

Probably best to give it to a lawyer if you know one.

Hope that helps on the copyright issue!

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Copyrights and magic...a whole complicated area, there's a huge thread on it somewhere.

First of all, ace of kev, may I point you in the direction of two articles:

http://www.online-visions.com/krystal/0410kenton.html

And, I wish you all the best with your creation. I've got a few things on the go, but they need a lot of trialling and improving before. Along this line...

I believe this site would be of some use if you plan to make notes on it.
