...whether the white border on the back of decks like Bikes is called the "border" or the "gutter". I've got it into my head that it should be the gutter, but I have no idea why and Mr Google's Celebrated Engine draws a bit of a blank.

Anyone know of hand?

Personally, i've never heard of any cards having a gutter! Its always been called a border as far as i know, which is, very probably, very little.

In cards, I believe it's called a border. A gutter is the space between columns in a design layout.

Cheers, thanks for that. It was one of those late night things. I could have sworn it was a gutter, but why I have no idea...

Stamps have gutters in the middle of a 200 sheet.

I've never heard of 'gutter' applied to cards - always border. As Dimitri says, in publishing the gap between columns is often called a gutter, though, technically, it's an 'alley': the gutter is the space between facing pages, left so you don't end up losing the text when they're bound. Anyway, I'd guess, Tomo, that it's your writing work untidily placing a term in your head then running away before your brain had a chance to file it correctly. So, it got stuffed into 'Magic/poss. cards'.

A gutter is the thing that catches the water from the roof when it rains, which happens a lot at my house

Yeah, there is just this one black cloud that hangs over my house

Everywhere else is always sunny and dry in my street, but we had to choose the rainy house

Perhaps you're a rain god, like the lorry driver in "So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish". All he knew was that his holidays were ruined. All the clouds knew was that they wanted to be near him and to water him.
