Coin Production

Postby EckoZero » Apr 7th, '06, 04:00

Not normally a coin man, but it's something I'm interested in moving into... so here goes. This is my first video, and my first coin production, so go easy on me... please? :D

Oh! And by the way... ignore what my mouth is doing...
I have a half a lip ring and it irritates my mouth so I play with it ALL the while

Enjoy!

Not bad buddy. This production has the advantage that it nearly "Angle-free" and I like it. For someone who doesn't do much coins i don't think you can argue much for an easier and better coin production (unless you try Sankey's Black Stack production - that will really fry people!)

If thats the one from Revolutionary Coin Magic, I couldn't agree more.

When I first saw it I just thought to myself "W...t...f...?!"

Gotta try that at some point.
Maybe when I'm out clubbing on Monday 8)

coin technique

Postby archimage » Apr 7th, '06, 07:08

Not too bad EckoZero. I would recommend getting the coin at the same time as when your arm snaps out as opposed to getting the coin upon the return. That way your hand reaches into air and pulls back the coin which is already firmly in your fingertips.

It took me a little practice to do that, but it helps validate I wasn't hiding anything.

Just my two cents.

Yeah I was thinking that.
The problem is that I have big thumbs. Good early on, bad later.

I also can't seem to quite get into the swing of producing on a pull back...

Any advice on how to do it?
I suppose practice will help obviously lol

practice suggestions

Postby archimage » Apr 7th, '06, 08:46

The way I practiced it was in two steps.

1. arm out, fingers in at same time (fast), pull coin.

2. arm back, fingers out at same time (slow) holding coin

It also might help to cover the move by moving your arm straight up as if plucking coins from above. Having the hand above eye level allows you to be a little sloppier and still have nothing revealed. I started with straight up and eventually moved to straight out.

looking at your technique, I have no doubt you can do it, it is just a matter of getting your timing down. Hopefully, I'm not revealing any techniques that I'm not supposed to. It's difficult to give magician to magician advice without revealing too much. I guess I have to just wait until I get access into the restricted zones. : )

ps. If I am revealing too much, please notify the admin and have my post removed with my apologies.

Doesn't look you are to me mate...

But I'm sure the mods will politely tell you if you are :)

I'll bear those thigns in mind... I probably can do it, it's just all the practice it needs... and yes I know that no magic comes overnight but I practiced for ages before I put that video up...

I'll bear your tips in mind though, and when I get a better one, I'll put that up too :D

couple of tips that might help....

try bendind the first joint of your thumb down it looks more natural and give you a better grip on the coin.

when practising use the reverse of the production move to vanish the coin like your tossing it into the air follow the passage of the coin as it goes up to the ceiling then catch it on the way down.

also try tapping your first finger tip to the tip of your thumb then your second finger same motion then both... this trains the brain for the curl part of the production.

Thanks for the tip on the thumb :D
Completely overlooked that.

And thanks for the tip on the production as well.
I can do it slowly now, so all I need to do is peed it up a bit.
And manage to vanish it in the same way...

Damn.
Back to the drawing board  lol

Or the practice room at least....
