Postby GMD_10 » Apr 8th, '06, 12:21

Hi - I'm only a member of Talk Magic but noticed this site too

I also notice alot of you are members of Magic Bunny. Whats the difference the site looks exactly the same!!!!

Dare I ask the question.... Whats the best site in your opinions????? And who is and isnt members of Talk Bunny?.... I mean Magic Bunny

(No its not Talk Bunny although that is clearly the hybrid of the two!)

You talkn' Jive, Bunny! Couldn't resist.

I think TM is a lot fluffier and more grown up than MB.

I'm a member of both, but I never visit Magic Bunny. Talk Magic has much better discussions in my opinion.

Far more members on MB more pro magicians too, other than that they are both much the same, MB is not quite as heavily moderated though even they have started to be a bit more active in locking and deleting posts.
Oh yeah you can trade DVDs on MB so I guess that might make a difference to some people but you need 50 posts before you can use the trading part.

I'm also a member of both as I think a lot of TM members are. However, TM is my personal fave as it's the one that I first joined and I find that there's too much going on at MB to keep up to date with AS WELL as managing TM

Well, I'm one of the earlier members of the Bunny and like I do with most sites, I've worked very hard to support them. I enjoy both forums, this one just a tad bit more in that there is less of an "agressive" attitude here than what is allowed at the Bunny Hutch.

I walked away from the Bunny a few months ago due to the bully attitude some have over there but, I couldn't ignore people asking me to return, nor could I ignore the fact that I missed it there.

Both forums have similarities and yet, enough uniqueness to make them their own entity. That's a good thing!

Hehehe!!! Interesting one....!

I am a member of many forums online including Magic Bunny and now Talk Magic (talk about stating the obvious  )

One thing that I have found with forums is the amount of idiots that tend to be on them. Unfortunately this is the case on many of the bigger forums. It annoys me to see stupid questions that have no merit what so ever or worse yet really good questions getting stupid answers.

I think part of the problem is that people that have been in the art for a long period of time have a tendancy to forget what its like to be a beginner, or better still you get the 14 year old who thinks he is the master card manipulator. I have been a coin magician now for some time. I moderate two Coin Forums for Ultimate Magic and Radio Magic, I am fairly knowledgable in the area.... However... I know jack all about card magic. Well nothing worth mentioning anyway. What may be a difficult sleight for me may be an easy one for someone else however is this reason to make me look the fool???

You see it all the time... Magic Bunny used to be a fantastic forum. You could ask any question and get some very good responses unfortunately with every day it becomes more and more like the Cafe with people posting just for the sake of posting. Personally I prefer the smaller forums like About Magic and Ultimate Magic.

I am fairly new to Talk Magic, so I will reserve judgement on what these boards are like... I am hoping the people are friendly and the advice is free flowing... If it is then I will have found another forum to use on a regular basis.

Hmmmm.... Doesn't really answer the question but I think it raises a valid point or two

Scotty

I find questions like this a little pointless, after all it's all a matter of personal opinion and each of us should make up our own minds. It's that simple.

Both forums exist. Both forums have a lot to offer. Use one. Use the other or what teh heck, use both - you decide which is right [and which is illusion*] but please let's not get in a slagging match as to which is the better.

I don't care what anyone says, I reckon the Mods on TM are far better looking!
You better believe it!

Theres also Top Hat, which is a fantastic ebook every month
Can't argue with that.

Far more members on MB more pro magicians too
Hhhmmm. Not sure where you get your facts from. I suppose MB has more members, so I guess the statement is probably factual, but what about professional magicians as a percentage of the active membership? who knows.

Anyway - I stand by my statement at the start. It doesn't particularly do any of the forums any good to have threads like this.

Choose the one(s) you want and take an active role in, and then make interesting and informative contributions. If you do that you will get more from those forums/fori/foribata**.

It's not what these forums can do for you, it's what you can do for your...(yeah I know, I feel sick too)

* hands up who knows where that comes from?
** ok, that's a made up word.

Everyone on here is really friendly and are always keen to help

Timewasters and spammers (if we get any) are usually blocked and stuff like that.

I find faster responses on TM, but some things you can only expect help on from MB.
