What's your favourite trick?

Postby leighton » Apr 8th, '06, 08:49

This has probably been asked to death, but what is your favourite trick at the moment?

I have a very observant 5yr old daughter who seems to work out most of my tricks, she sussed out my floating tissue using "IT". She was amazed but went to grab the floating tissue, and said "it feels like there is a hair on it" Dohhh.....

she saw the coin fly upwards with my raven! Maybe I should kneel down next time.

However, she is very impressed with the appearing / dissappearing silk using a "TT" also the salt trick with the "TT"

My favourite trick at the moment is a simple card trick where a person selects a card puts it in the deck, and when fanned out on the table it has turned over to be the only card face down/up in the pack

I made my wife dissapear just by arguing with her!!!

difficult question for me as there are so many that I like. However, I alwas seem to settle for something with rope and at the present time it's the Tabary rope routine.

Ambitious Card all the way.. I do it all the time! Just because it's impromptu and its the first trick I think of whenever I'm asked to do magic!

My favourite sleight is the slip force but my favourite trick at the mo is either one that involves the box from the Ghost Gaff Deck (leaves them speechless) or one I worked out with another magician involving a card being found in a balloon flower (very silly routine and loads of scope for play). :)

For me it's a sven deck routine that ends with 7 cards on the table and me suggesting two of them as preferred (and clearly it doesn't really matter which they choose). They pick any card, get a hit and believe it has been forced/suggested.

Suggestion/psychological force is familiar to most at the moment thanks to Derren Brown so they are left wondering how I got them to choose a particular card. That really shakes them as there is no particular language to home in on.

It's usually whatever I'm working on at the time. Currently, it's a bit of business where the spec shuffles the deck to lose their card, I make a prediction as to an exact position, they count down to it and discover their card.

My favourite at the moment is a chop cup (Don Alan's routine). It's a killer. I am also pretty much into c&b now, but I still have a long way to go before I can start performing it.

for impromptu, the ambitious card i think is the best for anyone with just a deck of cards, there are so many variations and so many ways to make it seem like the impossible just happened, but when i can prepare myself slightly, i always liek to finish a table with the rising card out of the deck. i made my own prop for this trick and i have yet to get a reaction other than "HOLY *&$" or "WHAT THE @$%" and it does nothing but improve your credentials and leave people talking about it long after its been done

At the moment - anything involving the wichita slip sleight, which I have learnt recently and is just fantastic... forces, returned cards reappearing, writing found on back of freely chosen card... loads... and is very useful in a world that is rapidly tiring of suspicious "riffle selections"!

Very Hard: I would say Spooked, ID (still a classic) and Damnation (from Black Hart)

Smile, I work with kids and I must say that Just playing around with my D'lites is the most fun.

For adults Ive just made up my own Stigmata like effect and it works wonders.

I'm quite in to sponge balls at the momnet. I am having grate fun adding them in to my fav card routine. I have some fantastic ideas.

On and I have this funny idea of vanishing a snake lol. I have a pet snake that just loves people and I would love to get him involved in my routines. He is a rescued snake but still very friendly.

Magic is real, just look around you, some of the most amazing things have no reason, no explanation but are very real.
