Close-up in Tenerife

Postby Kevin Cann » Apr 4th, '06, 13:50

I'm about to go to South Tenerife for a holiday & wondered if anyone knew of any venues (hotels, restaurants etc.) which feature regular close-up magicians ?

im going to get back to you on this. I went a couple of years ago and there was a bar not too far from where i was staying that featured a close up magician once a week. The place was good, the whole ceiling was covered in cards, he struggled to find a place for my sisters card when he performed card on ceiling for her! he did loads of card and coin tricks and gave out some impossible puzzle things out for people to do. Im going to have to ask my grandad the name of the place but he should be able to help.

Where abouts are you staying?

There is a magic bar in Los Christianos called Camarillo.. Had heard that it closed down this maybe wrong!!! If it's still there, get there early as it gets packed out|!!

Well, just spoke to my family, and they said that we had stayed in Los Christianos in the 'Christian Sur' Apartments. Just across the road from there was a bar and that is where we saw this magician. The general opinion of my family is that the place began with a 'H' but nobody is sure.

If you find yourself in the area and are still not sure which bar it is, i guess your gonna have to go into every bar in the area and have a drink to find out! Im sure theres not just this place though, theres loads of places in that area that have acts on and i'd be very suprised if there wasnt a few each night with magicians performing!

Hey Trick Ricky, what an amazing coincidence. Almost real mentalism. I am also staying at the Cristian Sur apartments (it will be my 4th stay there).

I've been to Tenerife loads of times and seen a few magic cabarets but never any close-up. I'll be sure to keep my eyes open for bars beginning with 'H'

Wow that is pretty cool! Couldnt do it if we had planned it!

Dont take the H as a definite, it was literally just over the road from the apartments! It is also possible that the place either doesnt have a magician there any more, or doesnt exist any more as it was a couple of years ago that i went. But it is worth a look, they do other cool acts as well, including a cross dressing dude that likes to pick on my dad!

The 'cross dressing dude' is one of my best mates. His name is Gavin Nicholas and his award winning act is amazing. Just don't sit near the front in the audience!!

Cahplins Resturant have a walkoabout magician once a week (dressed as Chaplin funnily enough :? )

Its near the Laguna Park I appartments - in the Play de Las Americas area of Tenerife.

I seen him there January 2005, so not sure if he still there. He was a British boy, and very good he was as well. Its his fault that I got back intrested in magic after many, many, many years away.

Cheers
Rob
