strange feeling...

Postby IAIN » Apr 13th, '06, 12:18

..im at work at the moment, slaving away infront of Photoshop 7 (yeah, like its a chore...) - and a guy here bought his kids in to the office to show them around, and to show them that hairy fella that can do magic...

I only did a couple of D.L's and some colour changes as i told a few stupid jokes and they were highly excited...strange feeling, never done anything for kids before with magic; especially as i enjoy bizarre magick...

still, made a nice change - no blood spilt, no spirits to envoke - though im scared to look under my desk incase they've left me with some kind of stain...one needed the toilet...i could always pass it off as ectoplasm i suppose...

I was merrily pulling dlites out of my ears inthe pub on Saturday lunchtime for the landlady's daughter. She was a bit quiet, but kept naming a colour and trying to catch me out. The other people sat around there were enjoying it. When I turned up for the quiz leage on Tuesday, night the landlady told me that her daughter had been a bit scared of the strange lights!

You just can't win sometimes.

i keep meaning to buy some D'lites...they sound a good laugh...i've read a good use for them from online-visions somewhere or other too...

...tomo - did you use any pattern-interrupts to convince the landlady that you won the quiz?

Tee hee. That'd be fun. We lost, but as we're already assured promotion next season, we were larking about, and even a man down!

I think that unfortunately, most kid's performers have given this category a bad name (some old guy with badly coloured props etc.).

I tell a story of a mouse that lived in my grandfather's house and he used to sleep under this blanket (an old hankerchief - sounds gross doesn't it). One day when the mouse was really old he just disappeared and no-one ever saw him again. I tell this story as I make the mouse. Suddenly the mouse comes alive and the hankerchief is hauted by this old mouse. The kids scream and laugh and the adults are startled and somewhat freaked out as they're drawn into the story as well. One of the more superstitious waitresses in a resturaunt I perform at ran away when the mouse lept in her direction. I then bring it all under control and fold up the handkerchief...
From what I understand about bizarre magic - this comes close, doesn't it?

I must admit, I've been "coaching" the team all year and we've done really well. It might just be coincidence, of course. Mind you, we've got some quite interesting psychological weapons in our armoury. If we know we don't know an answer, but know it's not the obvious one, we'll give an obscure one to guide the other team into the obvious, but wrong, answer. Well, they should think from first principles, not let us narrow down the search for them!

...my favourite in those quizzes if you know people are ear-wigging is to just blurt out an incorrect answer then act annoyed saying "sorry!sorry" in a whisper to your team mates...then laugh when the opposition glare at you once the answers are given out...

not magic or milton-like, but still amusing...

...i would also like the idea of the ghost of the mouse appearing under his "dirty blanket" at some point...then asking someone to look under it to see nothing...
