Crash Course 1 or Born to perform?

Postby paniclikehell » Apr 17th, '06, 07:41

Hey guys, my friend just got introduced to card magic and said he wants to learn the basic sleights, fundamentals, etc. by DVD. I did research and found that Crash Course 1 and Born to perform card magic were the best beginner DVD's(please correct me if I am wrong) So which one is better? I recommended the Royal Road to Card Magic but he said he wanted a DVD.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm fairly sure that this is available on DVD
It's a lil' steep at £59.99 - this is for the 5 DVD set (there's one on ebay at the mo for £49.99 + £2.90 postage). There's also a 4 DVD set which is quite a bit cheaper (one on ebay at the mo for £19.99 + £2.45 postage), but prolly alot cheaper for a reason i.e. it's nowhere near as good

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

I don't have any experience with crash course but have with Born To Perform which is why I recommend it.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Yep, i have both Born To Perform and CC and would have to reccomend Born To Perform ... it covers few full effects but the effects its covers are stronger ... you also get the added benefit of all the fundamentals covered by Oz who is an excelent tutor.

If it was my 30 quid then i'd be looking at Born To Perform first, i've not looked at Royal Road, i have heard things about it ... but i think you may run the risk of giving a first time a little too much information.

The beauty of born to perform as you can watch and practice the DVD, and you already have a proven routine to run to spectators, and as Oz says, if he didnt find himself using the material on a daily basis in magic then he didnt want it on the DVD.

I started magic with Crash Courses so I will recommend them to Born to Perfom Magic. I don't like Oz's teaching style and different variations on some of moves there. But Crash Course a little expensive and don't have that much content. Also my advice is to get the Royal Road to Card Magic book with these, that will really help you.

Like others have said, I dont own Crash Course, but I do own born to perform. Born to perform id highly recommended. I only got it in the last couple of months, and even though I have been doing cards for the last 14 years, I still got something out of it. Why did I buy it? Well, many people on here and who I know rated it so highly, and it is worth every penny.
