Its about time there was a review for this trick!

The Effect

You cleanly show 4 cards to the spectators to be the four aces. You close the spread and without a single move, you spread the cards again to reveal one of them has turned face down. You close them, and once again spread them to reveal that the second Ace has turned face down. You continue this until all 4 Aces have magically turned face down in your hands. Amazing? Thats only the beginning!

You then reveal that the four cards you are holding have been the 4 kings all along, and theres not an Ace in sight. But where did those Aces go? You got it! Into the middle of the deck that the spectator has been holding the entire time!

Cost

$11.99 from here. It is currently only available as a download but there are plans to make it into a DVD for those that do not want to wait for the 141MB file to download.

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)

2-3 - There are some sleights used but they are fairly easy to perfect.

Review

Could this be the effect that replaces Twisting the Aces? Early signs indicate yes! It is so easy to do! Think of an ungimmicked NFW, that packs not one, not two, but three amazing punches that will leave the spectator with the feeling that some part of their mind has just exploded.

The file that you recieve includes two street performances of Mercury by David Kong himself, a detailed tutorial on the main sleight involved, the basic method of performing, a complete list of more advanced methods of how to start and end the trick under different circumstances, a run-down on the angles involved (even though there are very few already!) and a bonus feature that shows how to do this trick with the new Ghost deck!

The teaching is excellent. David Kong does an excellent job in teaching this effect, the sleights, the advanced presentations and the angles involved.

Overall

World, meet Mercury. Mercury, meet world. This is possibly one of the best effects that i own, and it so easy to do! And for the price, how can this be turned down??!! Out of 10, i would easily give this effect a 10. If you are into card tricks, get this. You will not be disappointed!

Hi
Too bad I couldn't get the demo to run.
Some Q's.

 Can this be done on borrowed deck? Or long prep?
 You said this comes in a 141MB file - ie no props. What format is thetutorial in? Is it a wmv or avi file? I heard once that ellusionist uses some special player and you can't play without it. If that's so I'd have to give it a miss as I can't risk my PC to custom apps. (I'm a programmer by trade)

Yes, you can do it with borrowed deck; you don't need long preperation for it.
I think it's a licensed wmv file, I have some difficulties playing it but now they have a new system I don't know if that will effect the older downloads.

Also I saw a trick on Sankey/Sanders sessions which looks same.

Hmm. I'll have to consider it later then cuz I'm moving countries late this year and won't take this PC with.

What Sankey thing was it on? I like his stuff maybe I can get that instead.

I don't if they are "same" but I'm sure they are very similar. It's Sankey-Sanders Sessions dvd.

They make you download a program or if you already have it, update it. It's call TroubleMaker or TM...haha...All you do is find the vid. you bought, push watch the video, put in the password and learn! I did this with Revolution.

Thanks,

This is a really nice effect! I had some difficulty getting the download version to actually go to my shopping cart, but user-support at Ellusionist was excellent. Got the download safe and sound, and have been enjoying learning this great trick. The moves are good and David shows you several ways in and out of the effect for maximum impact. It can be done as street magic or more formally as part of a close-up show.

10/10 for me and about 8 quid with the current exchange rates

Ok, just to be sure, I can do this with a new pack of bikes, right?

Yes, you can do it with a new deck of bikes or any borrowed deck. I would avoid the manky deck down the pub, but a reasonable new deck is fine.

It is an 'anytime anywhere' effect, and David gives you several ways to do it depending on the performance environment.

Once I learned it, I kept getting a deck of cards out and doing it over and over again, since it is so visually pleasing. I shall be performing this evening at a drinks party!

Hope this helps.
