Effect:
The magician tells a story about a dream he had about one of the spectators and a card that she has chosen. He has some idea what the card was from his dream, so he took it out of a deck at home and nailed it to a table. He the explains that he took a photo of the nailed card.
As he explains this, he removes a small plastic sleeve with a photo in it. The photo is of the 4 of diamonds nailed to a table with a large steel nail. The photo is removed from the sleeve and placed face down on the table.
The magician takes out a deck of cards and the spectator chooses one card in expectation that it will match the 4 of diamonds in the photo. The card is turned over and revealed to be the king of clubs. The magician regrets the mismatch and slides the king under the photo face down. He then IMMEDIATELY pulls the card back out again to reveal that it has a nail hole through it and it is the 4 of diamonds!
The photo is then turned over and the spectators see that
in the photo, a king of clubs is now nailed to the table!
Everything is examinable!
Difficulty:
2 (not self-working, you use two basic sleights).
What they say:
'A jaw dropping two card transposition unlike anything you have ever seen before!'
What I say:
I reallly, really, really like this effect! My girlfriend and I watched the demo and she said: 'You have to get that trick!' It came today complete with everything you need (apart from a regular deck of bicycle cards), including a great instructional DVD that gives you about five or six different ways of performing the effect. Jay's teaching style on this DVD is better than on some of his others, and I particularly like the alternative handlings to suit the performance venue and mood of the crowd.
This trick is not an opener, it is a closer! The setup is straightforward (Jay shows you several ways of getting ready from any point in your show) and the effect is absolutely fantastic.
The transposition of the two cards, one with a hole in it, the other into the photo, is just great! Plus, the punters can look at the props!
