The little button next to edit with a cross on it. Click the cross, and hey presto it'll disappear!

Sound a bit like Lady Bracknell from the importance of being Earnest there Mark!

As I am young and British I feel I must now make the serious point that we are not all football hooligans, I myself am a Croquet hooligan and love nothing more than invading a Croquet lawn with a tin of cheap lager in my hand, swaying wildly from side to side, singing songs about curry, spouting abuse at the players and shouting "DEFENCE, DEFENCE" at the top of my voice to no-one in particular...

I really enjoy your posts Mark, keep up the hard work (you always put a smile on old Flashy's face)! :D

I was not trying to be rude you are obviously very knowledgeable and I respect that. However I am a little offended by your attack, firstly you made some comments that could be argued to be racist and my name is PittO NOT Pitta, that just displays ignorance I would have thought you'd have known that. I think Sankey is alright I think he teaches well I just think that is a fairly amusing quote.

You commented on how I perform which have no right to do unless you have "seen" me perform, which I doubt.

I do "study" your posts, as well.

Finally is there anyone who has not worked for you.

(That post could be said to be a little rude but my others were'nt.)

PS at the to of every post is a box saying quote, on the posts you have made there is a box saying edit and a box with a "X" click the X to delete posts. (top right)

Cheers,

Chris Pitt (AKA Pitto)

Oh and

I don't think that not having heard of a person is ignorance the day I started magic didn't automatically mean I had heard of every "famous" magician. You'll be pleased to know that I prefer books over DVDs as well. I try to not be ignorant I speak to as many magicians as possible to try not to be ignorant. I wrote to Alan Shaxon (who I expect owes his career and fame to you) to try and become more knowledgeable. So I resent that comment as well.

Perhaps we should all bear in mind that although the written word can be presented with tongue firmly in cheek, it sometimes doesn't come across that way and resonses are inevitable. Time for a change of emphasis on this thread please.

Yeah sorry Mandrake  ,

To answer the original question, The only virtue of the DVDs seem to be the "modernisation" which can be done with common sense and the book. The book is extremely well written and not very difficult to understand. It has to be one of the best magic books ever written, save yourself a lot of money and get a copy.

In my capacity as a holy man of the cloth I am prepared to forgive young Christopher. I have been to his profile and have noted that he is but a schoolboy. I am a little alarmed that he is interested in sports but I shall give him the benefit of the doubt and am prepared to believe that he is not a football hooligan after all.

It is true that I have not seen him perform but he must remember that I have psychic powers and can quite visualise it. I see that he spends quite a bit of time on technical mastery of card tricks and I commend him on it. No doubt if he pays attention to what I have to say he might be able to improve his presentation and showmanship a trifle. I am full of the milk of human kindness and only have his best interests at heart.

I must say that I am highly amused that he now seems to agree with me that the book is far better than the DVD and he seems to imply just like I did that the DVD is not necessary. I hope he is not being "overly critical"

I am a trifle baffled by his accusations of racism since the only people that I have spoken in a derogatory manner about are the British. Since this is a British group everyone here will know that when I say that the British are a most awful people I am of course stating the truth. I myself am proof positive of the awfulness of the British public since I am British myself.

I will admit that Alan Shaxon does not owe his career and fame to me. However if at this late stage in his life he wants a bit of help I will not reject him.

As for who worked for me I shall now give a list at the risk of ruining the reputations of them all. David Ben worked for me. Ariel Frailich worked for me. Rudy Hunter worked for me. Jay Sankey worked for me. Jimmy Cricket the famous Irish comedian worked for me, Derren Brown's manager and owner of the TV company which puts his shows on worked for me, and finally the wife of a certain famous magician worked for me. I am not allowed to name her since my life may come to an untimely end if I do.

As for young Christopher I rather think he does not understand humour. Perhaps he needs to get a sense of it.

I'm actually very funny

Yes I spend hours on "technical mastery" not just with cards and I've always prefered books to DVDs.

I take on board any advice given me and learn from it. I'm not critisising the performances I'm just saying that there are not huge benefits of a DVD so why spend so much money when the book costs about £5.

Thanks for your help...

Cheers,

I purchased the RRTCM 5 Disk DVD's but the only problem I find is that the only room in my house without a DVD player in is the bathroom, and seeing as I am a stereo-typical bloke, when I go in there I am gone for a while! My wife would have you believe that I could read the hole of "War and Peace" when I am in there.

So I went and got the Royal Road book from amazon for a little over £6, it is a great addition to the DVD's and the bathroom visits

So in essence if you forked out close to £60 for the DVD's spend 10% of the cost on the book, and carry it around wherever you go!

I made my wife dissapear just by arguing with her!!!
