Where can i find a good sleights book???

Postby silver shadow » Sep 9th, '03, 20:44

can anyone suggest a good understandable sleights book, the reason i ask is that i have a card manipulation book, but its a bit sketchy it says thing like bring the card to the top by your favourite means, thats great is you have one, and palm the card in your favourite way, again great if you know more than one way.

also where i might find said book.

thanks :D

well there are a number of books on the subject..... royal road to card magic, expert card technique, annemans card magic seem to be the forerunners in the "which book is best" race

you can buy them from most magic retailers (royal road can be bought HERE )

or for "ebook" versions check out HERE

I would suggest RRTCM, however one I am looking at the moment is : Counts, Cuts, Moves & Subtlety which I am using to get my head around the Elmsley.

Hope this helps.

Although RRTCM is the definitive work on such matters, the style and presentation is very old fashioned and would be done in a much clearer style these days. It's good but don't expect miracles - you'll have to sweat through a few of the lessons until you get the hang of it. Which I haven't in many cases!

I'd strongly suggest Kaufmann's Basic Card Technique on Video or DVD where you can see the moves in expert style and presentation - clear as a bell as far as I'm concerned.

the royal road to card magic is an excelent card book.
Also, Now you see it, now you don't is a good slights book by bill tarr. It covers cards, coins, silks, balls etc, plus has a great easier version of the pass. All the moves are rated on difficulty but I would read the royal road first. You can get NYSI,NYD at amazon and at magicbox.
