Ah yes, Tom Salinsky, he of Space Cadets...good download, quite an improvement on the original IMHO. Combine that with Derren's idea from Pure Effect and you're on to a goodun!

In my opinion (of what I know) Paul Harris' Galaxy combined with a stripper deck is the best you can get it. Salinsky's version is good, but I'd only use it for the separation bit, then I would continue with Galaxy. The inconsistency in galaxy isn't noticed really, and it's easier than Salinsky's version, and doesn't require a pass.

I have been in touch with Mr George Blake in the spirit world and he has kindly allowed me to describe his method.

However I am too tired out to bother. Here is a clue though. You don't have to set up the deck secretly. You TELL them you are setting up the deck.

How were you caught? I only do a simple version, but nobody's found me out yet. The specs don't know what ur doing, so there's no reason for them to suspect until it's finished...

I've performed this trick loadsa times and I've never been caught out.

The way I present this trick is as follows:

I shuffle the deck then I ask the spectator to clear their mind and start thinking of red and black and to form a sequence of red, red, black, red ... etc. Whilst they are doing this I reckon on that I'm picking up vibes from them and proceed to set up the deck in front of them. Whilst I'm setting up, I make sure that the spec is constantly forming red and black images in their mind. Occasionally I'll stop and do a bit of play acting such as telling the spec to think only of red and black as other images in their mind are clouding my vision etc

When I'm sorting the cards into 2 piles, I always take the card off the top of the deck before I place it onto whichever pile the spec chooses - the amount of times people have "explained" the trick by saying that when they chose red I took a red card from the top of the deck and when they chose black I took a black card from the bottom of the deck. So I always stress that the card comes from the top of the deck and I always place it onto their selected pile using no devious sleights

I too think that you've either been unlucky or need a different OOTW routine.

From what I've seen of your card work I am somewhat surprised, I have to say. If I were only half as good at cards as you are then I would still consider myself gifted

I've never had any problem with this trick. Whenever I do the reveal of the cards, before I reveal it, I look at the cards and I say "Let's see how you've done... looks like you did alright!". That kinda reassures them that I didn't do anything sneaky.

Try this:

Have a joker in your shirt or breast pocket. During the dealing process ask the spectator to give you one card that he is not sure about. Place it into the pocket and switch it for the joker leaving it protruding from the pocket. Jacket breast pocket is better than a shirt pocket for the protruding part of things.

At the end you show all the reds and blacks in the usual way and climax the thing by saying "oh you remember the card you weren't sure of? It appears to be the joker."

There. Don't say I don't give you anything.
