Review

The first thing to point out is that the packaging has a 'not to be sold to under 18's' label on it, so younger magicians may need to consider this. The wallet is leather and is really well made. Although i cannot talk about the preparation for this trick on an open forum i will just say that it is very simple. There are no real sleights to this trick and even the beginner should have this trick up and running very quickly. Once the prep has been done you can leave the wallet for up to 4 hours and it will still work fine.

I have used this trick to present a card to potential clients and it always gets a great reaction. The wallet is sturdy and mine has been used often and is still working great. As always with fire you need to be careful where you use this effect

Overall

8/10

Just to inform everyone taht this wallet is only ideal if you have American size business cards, it whont work with UK size business cards as ours are more wider.

I whent to purchase one from Jim Pace at Blackpool and after handing him my business card to test it out, he realised the problem.

Hope this helps to anyone thinking of purchasing one.

Hi

My business cards fit fine (made in Spain), they are 5.5cms wide and 9cms long

It's a great way to give out your business card and leaves a lasting impression

Well worth it. I got mine from here http://www.penguinmagic.com/europe/product.php?ID=718 great price but out of stock at the moment.

Mmm bought this, arrived today, I'm probably not giving anything away if I say it's basically a ..................... on the outside of a black wallet.

Not what I was hoping for, means you have to be a bit careful flashing the wallet (but hey whose expecting you to produce a lit card from a wallet anyway.) but I was expecting an internal ignition system.

One niggle for me is you soak the business card in petrol lighter fluid, now whether it's my cards or not but they dry out within 15 minutes, so you can't just have this on you & do it ad lib, you have to prep it 1st & then use fairly quickly.

Mmm maybe a bit of flash paper tacked to the back of each card...

I had someone PM me re this trick & thought I would add my comments here for when anyone else looks into buying this. When they asked me what I thought of Hot Leads it took me a few seconds to recall what effect this was, that shows how much I've used it.

I thought i would hand a girl one of my cards... which means this will have to be in the wallet for quite some time and actually have to double as a proper wallet with my cash in it...

Basically no too both of these, the wallet has one see through flap on one side & 3 credit card slots on the other side, there is no where to keep money in the wallet, it's pretty useless. And I've found that my business cards soaked in petrol remain flamable for around 15 minutes, so you have to time it right.

About the lighting of the card...I hear a very big click everytime i see the videos of it

Yes plus it can also be awkward getting the click to work smoothly while seemingly just opening the wallet. Altogether I'd have to say avoid & if anyone wants mine, new & unused bar a couple of tests make me an offer.

Similar I bought another flame wallet from ebay a while back which had the ignition system inside the wallet, this was basically a lighter striker which you had to manually strike, very awkward, that was positioned against a petrol soaked pad, which did sometimes manage to produce a spark to light the pad & sometimes didn't, depends on how long you fumbled. Rubbish.

Does anyone know of a decent flame effect wallet?

Well I would have said that both this one and the ignition wallet you had are the best on the market. What do you want, real magic?

If so, then the state of the art in flammable wallets is pretty sad. For the amount of money they're charging, one should get more than a lighter flint, striking wheel, and pad, glued to a cheap wallet. (This isn't revealing anything you can't see in the ads for the wallets -- see here: http://www.stevensmagic.com/cshopping/s ... sp?id=5994)

How about electronic ignition? Lots of lighters use it, and I believe the flaming book does as well.

This one doesn't look too bad, apart from the high price:

The main problem with these wallets JohnDoe is the fumbling, the fact that the ignition systems are c*** (not the best), that you have to use the wallets within 15 minutes of priming them & that the wallets can't be used as everyday wallets.

Any inventors on here, we want something that lights automatically upon opening, maybe something like the lit appearing match effect, basic but works beautifully everytime. Maybe with a slot for some flash wool, however I'd rather have a longer burst of flames than flash paper/wool will produce...

Ideally something that uses a gas lighter & is thus easily refillable, I've forked out for the stealth assassin in the past & its always "on", that's what I want.

OKa the wallets aren't great but Hot Leads is. I just got rid of my spare one as I've now built my own with a metal card case but the idea is cool and I found I could keep the cards in there for days because of the plastic sleeves and they would still light.

I can understand why people are dissapoitined when they gett it because it is kick yourself simple but that doesn't mean it's a rip off.

Although I do love my fire wallet it hardly ever works.
Since I started using it professionally neither do I...

I've looked at the Volcano Wallet online and discovered the following. It is made by Jim Pace (Hot Leads) and has electric ignition. It also uses flash products and not the pads that are in your more traditional wallet (I think the pads look better when lit).

I've pasted a link below, theres a demo of the volcano and other firey, flamey stuff to burn holes in your bank balance and put a smile back on your face.

ps. If anyone does have one please write a review!
