It depends on the situation, but you can make it a positive (of sorts). Hmmm... Let me think of something so basic that it's OK to discuss it... Right: the Piano Trick (extreme example for the sake of discussion - most adults will figure it out anyway). You say, 'Yes. Isn't it fascinating? Watch...' go through the trick 'See, you make a point of saying 'One, two' to emphasise the 'even' aspect, and you also call it 'the odd card'? See? It's the psychology that's so interesting.' Do this in a conspiratorial, enthusiatic way. Everyone's now with you, and equally intrigued by the how people's minds work and can be influenced. Any exposure of a 'silly', 'stupidly simple' sleight or method is forgotten as you all delve into the circuitry of the human brain. You're not revealing a secret - the git who exposed it has already done that - and it ends up looking as though you actaully wanted to reveal the method as a way in to an interesting discussion. Then, 'Here - look at this one...' You're all together in an investigation now, and you can do ANYTHING. Ring on to elastic band, say. 'Watch - even what you see, can be what you can't possibly have seen.' Out of This World - suggestion, or 'picking up non-verbal cues'.
Everyone leaves happy and full of admiration for you. Then, on the way home, you can quietly slash the tyres on the spoiler's car.
