Hi, I'm new here and nice forum.

May I ask you guys, when you do DL, din't the audience suspect or unconviced? din't they wanted to hold to make sure it's one just one card that u're lifting? or is there more than this to perfect this simple move???

Just got myself a stripper deck...is there any place for me to learn more tricks using this deck? thx

DL

I have never had anyone query my DL. It is a very useful selight, especially in combination with the double undercut and hindu shuffle. I don't use stripper decks, so not sure what to advise here.

Sounds like you need to practice your DL a bit more before going out and performing. Done correctly, the DL.. whichever method you use.. will appear 100% natural.

Yep. Just need to practice more. If you do it well enough, it looks normal and as though it's only one card. Also, angle is important. Make sure they don't get a good view of the thickness of the card. Only the face or back.

There's a great DL that Brad Christianteaches in Ninja 2....

Can't remember the name of it, but there's no get ready, just one smooth motion and you have the double.
If you lift off singles the same way you just lifted the double, no one will suspect it
Also Ninja 2 is brilliant for improving your ACR

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

I believe the move you're talking about Ecko is called the 'Push Off' DL, its also in Expert Card Technique. I think there is a DVD out on stripper decks called 'Tricks with a Stripper Deck' and there is a booklet called...'My Weekend with a Stripper' or something like that

lol...that was nice. Perhaps maybe i perform to audiences which happen to be my real close frens thus they don't hesitate to ask whole lots of questions. Plus, the only logical to the card trick i did was to DL. I knew they would be ways to counter it and I'm searching to perfect this simple little skill. Thanks for all the reply.

Anyway, can anybody direct me to websites that contains alotsa magic book? Would like to pick up few good one for reference. Thanks

That's all it is. Turn everything the same way. Consistancy. That way, they think you're just lifting normally.

The only thing that I have ever found suspicious about double lifts is the way that you need to turn them over on the deck before you make the switch and put the upper card down on the table. (This is not a problem for routines like the ambitious card because turning it over on the deck seems perfectly natural if you are going to put it back into the deck).

As a result of this, a few years ago I devised a few card routines that have a reason for the cards to be turned over before putting them on the table. To give you an idea of what I mean, one of the routines invovles writing numbers on the back of three cards for a 'three card monte' style finish to another card trick. This has even thrown magicians off the scent and my double lifts are now rarely noticed.

I agree with the posts above, continuity is incredibly important.
