I don't know what the laws are in Israel but I'm fairly sure that would be using copyrighted materials unlawfully. Sorry!

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

if by that you meen you learn his moves and presentation then copy it and make your own video using his moves and presentation then thats definatly illegal and imoral as well.

if however you learn his moves and presentation and then achieve the same effect using a diferent method or combination of moves you may be able to rename it and sell it on like some other download shops.

Just a small advice here:
Don't mess with magician onto copyrights... they got weird psychic powers!!!

Seriously, if you want to sell an effect, you must be able to call it "your". To call an effect "your", it has to be something never seen before (from a totally new effect to a tottaly new way to achieve an effect).
Other question here, is there some kind of data base to check out every single effect produced to make sure there's not duplication of copyrights? That must be a huuuuge job to keep it up-to-date!
Anyway, cheers! (Starting to pick up a bit of the british expressions :D!)

For the language thingy, it's still illegal even if you translate. For this, you must ask Sankey's (good luck!) permission do to so

Maybe you could consider other ways of making money outta magic... check out for restaurants live performance in the streets (need a legal form for this one (Help! I lost the word!)...

e-mail Jay Sankey and ask him!!
he might not mind, if you make sure you credit him fully for the creation of the trick

edit: or he might not mind you dubbing HIS videos into another language! it can only serve to expand his customer base

Did you create this effect? If not, you are indeed stealing. It's like you writing a book in Hebrew, me translating it into English, selling it, and pocketing the profit from your hard work myself. Not nice, eh?

If you realy want to make money with magic try these:
put on a show
teach magic to others
turn $5 into $100 five times a day (Only joking)

While we are with those question, I have moral dilemma for you...
One of my recent spectator got astoundished (sp!!) by one of my latest routine and really got interested into magic. I can definitely tell it's not the "I WANNA KNOW!!" syndrom and he confesed me that he would really want to learn magic. I have no probleme showing the way to new magicians by leading them to local magic shop, suggesting dvd's and book, but this time, he offered to pay me to show him magic basis (mostly sleight and presentation)
Now this is my dillema:
Is it ok (legal AND moral) to get paid to teach magic if we aren't pros or the creator of the sleight
This might sound a bit dull to some of you but I'm still oblivious to those kind of non-written laws ;)
Thanks in advance!

Anyways, dubbing/subbing someone's work and then just selling it is illegal unless you're in a company or something and/or have permission to do so.

It's like borrowing without permission.

I'd say that if they're standard moves then you're fine, but if you start teaching a unique sleight that was created specifially to facilitate a specific trick, you're on dodgy moral ground.

I own a number of routines that state that it is acceptable to perform the routines to an audience but that it is forbidden without the creators consent to record the routine for broadcast of any form without written consent.

This may also apply to other material so check the small print or with the creator.
