Looking for a certain trick.

Postby goyoyo » Apr 27th, '06, 20:22

hey everyone, im pretty new to magic, im looking for a trick where you are holding a card between your thumb and index finger and you snap it with your other hand and it is a new card. I know the concept of the trick but havent been able to do it myself, im not asking for anyone to tell me how to do it, but if you know where i can buy it that would be great.

also, does anyone have any recommendations for a DVD for begginers, for mainly card magic. I tried searching the site, but doesnt seem to bring up anything relevant. you should be able to search topics only, would help.

thanks for your help,
B

Royal Road....
if you want things like that card change you want Jeff McBrides The Art of Card Manipulation.

you also want to post an intro first, then learn to use the search function.

The change your talking about is called the Snap Change by Ed Marlo. Good DVD for begginers: Crash Course 1+2 from Ellusionist.com and 2 good books for begginers are The Royal Road to Card Magic and Expert Card Technique both by Jean Hugard and Frederick Braue

Actually, I'm not sure that this is in Royal Road to Card Magic but agree that it very much sounds like the snap change.

The only lace that I've seen the secret sold seperately is on Penguin although I would not recommend buying it as a download from there. It's not really a trick per say, just more of a slieght.

I think that you;re better off buying the material already suggested where the sleight is taught in addition to other sleights, effects and routines.

wierd as. also, for something like this it;s always worth having a look in the file sharing section. find something you like, and you'll get to know the name of it too

yea, i know its really just a slight, just think its kinda cool.

also i found the penguin one and its not the same one i was talking about

david blaine does the one im tlaking about in Mystifier

the difference is, the opposite corners of the card are held between your thumb and index finger, and you snap the outside corner with your right hand.

thanks

like others said, i suggest you get 'royal road to card magic' DVD set and if you cannot afford that ($60 i think) than get the book for around $10 i think

Heres a link to jokers wild. I think its the change you are looking for ...watch the demo video...also besides just learning the change, its a good trick to learn

http://www.penguinmagic.com/browse.php? ... okers+wild

hope this helps
